SG an abbreviation for Sturmgewehr which translates to "assault rifle" is the designation given to the new rifle being developed for the Swiss Army as a modern, modular combat rifle that can be configured and deployed for numerous roles.
The 552 or "Commando" variant of the SG55x series of rifles features a shorter barrel making it the most compact in its line. It's intended purpose was to fill the role for a compact weapons system for Special Units, Vehicle Crews, Paratroopers, and Law Enforcement where a larger profile weapon is not necessary or unwieldy to field.

About Swiss Arms
Swiss Arms, formerly a sub-division of SIG, produces the standard issue service rifle of the Swiss Armed Forces the SG550 line.. The SG (Sturmgewehr / Assault Rifle) 550 was designed as a modern, modular infantry rifle meant to replace the Swiss Armys aging Stgw 57 Battle Rifles. The newer modernized rifle will feature modularity in a single platform to provide the appropriate equipment from Special Forces needs all the way to a General Issue Infantry weapon. Other features include vastly reduced weight as well as being chambered in the common NATO 5.56x45mm cartridge.
(Write a review) "Note:
* The manual recommends 8.4v and the gun comes with an 8.4v NiMH, whereas Evike recommends 7.4v LiPo. This is fine; they have tested it. I also had it cron tested with a 7.4v battery and it fired 0.25g @ 325fps. The gun is much lighter with LiPo anyways, so I recommend spending the extra $20-$30 for a better battery.
* To get the rail on top to be solid and not wobble requires putting a lot of torque into the locking bolt.
* Very light
* Very good-looking
* The rails on the side and bottom can be easily removed to make the weapon even lighter if that's your thing
* Makes an ugly sound when firing
* The magazine it comes with isn't very good, and so you will want to upgrade
* The manual is not very detailed and has poorly written English
All in all a pretty decent weapon. Good times and great fun without any modding and just a few upgrades. "I bought this gun from a local airsoft shop and have had it for a couple of months now. It feels great and snappy, lightweight and mobile. Pretty accurate from mid-range.
Fast ROF w/9.6v - decent with 8.4v
Solid build for polymer
Nice iron sights
Mag is cheap (get mid-caps like the mag100)
Front wiring can get caught and possibly tear "The externals on this gun are nice (I bought the full metal w/ quad rail) but when I got mine, the wires weren't properly inserted, which caused one of them to get ripped open by the sector gear. Another wire wasn't soldered on properly, and I was able to simply pull it out of the solder joint. The screws for attaching the fire selectors to the gearbox stripped after unscrewing them once, so I had to use wider screws to hold them in. The gearbox was also very overshimmed and sounded like a dying cat when shooting.
However, after reshimming the gearbox and rewiring with a WARFET, the gun shoots pretty well. With everything else stock, and on a G&G green hop rubber, I was hopping 0.25g bb's between 310-330fps.
Side notes: There's a tiny bit of wobble on the upper rail, I just used a few tiny rubber washers to fix that. Also, this gun uses a version 3 gearbox, but it doesn't use the motor cage, and the motor has to be adjusted through the motor grip. This gun is also OEM'd by JG.
Tl;dr: If you're gonna open it up, then go for it. If you aren't going to open it up, then maybe not. Write a Review
