  • Highly durable Cerakote finish
  • Special "G-Edition" comes outfitted with gold accents
  • Twist fluted barrel
  • Full length M-LOK handguard

The new Z-System is Tokyo Marui's latest entry into the GBB rifle market featuring an action similar to the venerable Hi-Capa design as opposed to standard gas M4 systems. The Z-System has been designed to not only be much more gas efficient, but it has been designed with durability and longevity in mind thanks in part to its short travel roller style hammer; this hammer design greatly reduces the cyclic wear on your bolt, hammer, and valve knocker. Additional improvements include a steel bolt locking plate which addresses a common issue with standard gas M4 systems where the bolt stop suffers from accelerated wear and quickly loses the last round bolt locking function.

"bought January 2024
this is my first GBBR and now i never want to go back to AEG.
has not locked up on me, no problems, played in indoor CQB and I've consistently hit targets from 20m (65 feet or 21 yards).
FPS is low enough for both indoor and outdoor play (around 310fps on 0.28g bbs please don't go any heavier or else it'll start having hop up issues)

if you're planning to take off the muzzle make sure you heat it up FROM THE TIP--the glue is below the gold band of the muzzle.
grab a long screw driver, put it through vent/ports of the muzzle, hold the rifle with either a vice or your legs and twist it counter clock wise to remove it (twist to the right)

the rifle is light weight letting you handle the gun with ease. (trust me, it gets heavier once you add in more attachments and the magazine itself)
functions like mag-release and bolt stop paddle are ambidextrous which is good since i'm primarily a lefty. mag-release on the left side is a little harder to push down but it gets easier once you've broken it in through play.

i've used both the TM and EMG Lancer System magazines and you're MUCH better off using the TM brand if you want it to fit well out of the box. the EMG Lancer System needed some sanding (A LOT OF SANDING) so i wouldn't have to pull out the magazine when i had to reload.

TLDR
accurate out of the box, left side mag-release needs to be broken in, buy TM magazines when in-stock.

"Without exaggeration, this is the best gas blowback rifle you can get on the market, period. Hoping Evike posts this review because this gun really deserves a good bit of attention.

Pros:
-Very accurate - easily capable of hitting torso-sized targets out to 50 meters w/0.30 g BBs @ 1.2 J
-Unparalleled cold weather performance - works even down to 35-40 F
-Runs extremely smoothly, minimal resistance to bolt travel, extremely snappy
-Completely ambidextrous controls including highly useful right-side bolt catch
-Beefier trigger guard prevents middle finger bite
-Great rate of fire - approx. 800-900 RPM on propane in 80 F weather
-BOLT LOCKS BACK. EVERY. TIME. (Looking at you, WE/GHK/VFC...)
-Very lightweight - less than 6 pounds with a loaded magazine
-Extremely durable scratch and weather-resistant Cerakote finish
-Sharply angled pistol grip allows you to bring the gun closer to your body - the gun feels shorter than it is
-Stock can be disassembled and reassembled to choose between faster shouldering or better recoil control
-Beautiful heat-resistant gold accents
-Very solid, absolutely no wobbling, nearly perfect QC, fit, finish with no burrs or blemishes to be found
-Yes, the TM has a good amount recoil especially owing to its light weight. Recoil is dependent on the buffer weight. For more recoil, just use a heavier buffer.

Cons:
-Plastic buffer and nozzle spring can wear out when using propane (just replace with DP or Guns Modify springs and a G&P adjustable buffer)
-Gold finish wears out slightly on bolt carrier group and charging handle but still looks great where it matters
-Buffer tube shows some wear due to one of the screws on the BCG not entering it at a perfect angle each time, though it does not impact smooth travel of bolt
-Barrel nut very difficult to remove, may come with red loctite which requires a heat gun
-Stock bucking has issues hopping anything heavier than 0.30's due to the soft nub
-Angry Gun adjustable NPAS nozzle broke the locking lugs, but the gun still kept running
-Ace 1 Arms SAA PMAGs require filing down of the trigger guard in order to fit
-35 round magazines may need breaking in and modification to use with propane/green gas in winter
-Price

As with all GBBRs, use only high quality non-bio BBs and make sure to clean after every game day. Use propane with a polymer adapter if possible, as it's much cheaper and does not ruin your bucking with silicone oil. I'm selling my AEGs and switching over completely to GBBRs. We can safely say that technology has advanced to the point where GBBRs can now safely compete with AEGs and not feel outgunned. The TM MTR-16 is proof of that. You'll regret not having run a GBBR sooner.
