When APS set out to develop the Silver Edge gearbox, they wanted to bring to market an ultra-smooth, low amperage draw, ultra-reliable system with huge upgrade potential. The newest iteration of the Silver Edge gearbox named eSilver Edge takes everything that made the original great and improves upon it.
The newly developed advanced S.D.U™ (Super Dynamic Unit) chipset monitors the amperage draw from shot to shot and will cut power to the gearbox if the current spikes too high before damage can be done to your gun.
To improve trigger performance, the eSilver Edge gearbox features a micro switch trigger which works together with the S.D.U.™ chipset for near instantaneous trigger response (as fast as 0.02 seconds). When combined with a short stroked trigger, users can achieve an incredible semi-auto rate of fire.
Additional to the reinforced internal parts, the gearbox shell itself has been greatly reinforced to withstand the stress of up to an M190 spring. Great thought and detail has gone into this gearbox to make it more durable, more efficient, and at the same time remain compatible with the great majority of Tokyo Marui Spec upgrade parts.

"Just gonna start by saying I had some issues with Evike on this one, which I reached out to support and got it handled but I want to make sure you guys are in the know before purchasing, the first APS Guardian rifle I got was the original, not the 2.0 version and it arrived damaged and the box full of misplaced parts along with dirt and ripped packaging. Then when I got my credit back and ordered this one, it did say Tamiya connector when I bought it but it arrived with deans so evike sent me a connector so thank you evike.

I got the APS Guardian for a few key reasons, the paramount of which was that the price didn't break the bank, but I was going to get the quick change spring system for indoor/outdoor use. I'm not huge into taking airsoft weapons apart because I've done it before and the time it takes it too consuming. So I was excited for this weapon to have the full steel gearbox with quick change spring system. However, when it got to me and I opened the buffer tube, it became clear this was not a "true" quick change spring system. The lower receiver made by APS does not use a threaded buffer tube with real locking castle nut, but instead uses a fake molded castle nut buffer tube that is screwed into the lower receiver with an actual screw located where the quick change spring system would be if the lower didn't have to be a closed unit to mount the buffer tube to the receiver. This means that the gearbox has to be completely removed from the lower and upper to access the quick change spring which is very upsetting.
Now, regardless of how I feel about APS putting a closed lower receiver OVER the quick change spring system, the gun does still have its perks. It's very sturdy being all metal, but not too heavy as my SR-25 is. The SDU chipset in the gearbox works better than all of my other rifles, its quick, responds well to trigger pull due to proper tensioning, and the range coming out of the box on the rifle consistently with .20g was about 100-110 feet before any veer-off began.
The m-lok handguard is a little tricky being my first m-lok system, and there's not much room to get wrenches in to tighten pieces down, but a little practice and you'll figure it out.
The gun recommends a 7.4v lipo battery, it is wired to the stock with a DEANS connecter, not a Tamiya. But I run a deans to Tamiya and use a 9.6v Ni-MH stick type which I should note only fits with the stock extended out a couple slots.
The mag, stock, grip, and handguard hold really well, no wiggle. The entire gun is just really slim and sturdy while still being lightweight for a metal setup. Overall, I don't have much issues with it other than that the APS manufactured receiver blocks the quick change spring...I have ordered a new receiver, buffer tube and will be switching it out so that I can use this to how it was supposed to be made.
Hopefully I can get it all set up and return here to update this review, but as for now, the failure to mention this isn't a true quick change spring knocks this weapon down to a 3/5.
