"I believe this piece is to prevent the trigger-guard form rubbing against the trigger, giving the trigger enough space to swing fully on its action. I have a vsr10 that does not have a spacer collar, and it took me forever to figure out why it would not fire (LOL)...the trigger was bumping against the trigger-guard. Hahaha! This is a pretty essential piece.
