About Thompson

"I bought this thing when it was on sale, and man was it a good choice. It's slightly heavy, but that's not a reason to be turned away. It really turned heads at my local field, and performs much better than I thought it would for the price.

PROS:
Stylish
Rather accurate
Comfortable grip
Seems to be very well built
Kinda loud but not enough to detract

CONS:
The screw to the battery compartment is easily lost since it's tiny and has to be removed fully to access the compartment. It'd be a good idea to track down more screws if possible and pick them up, since they like disappearing.
The manual isn't the most detailed.
It's not 100% accurate to the actual model, but that can be overlooked

Judgement:
One should pick this up if they want to get a chicago typewriter. It's stylish and works well, and for the price, the wood furniture definitely makes it worth it.

"If you go back to the comments section, you will find a link to a short video I made about this CYMA Thompson.

Like you, I was wondering about the very low price for a replica of metal with wood furniture, especially since there are more expensive versions of the Thompson with plastic stocks and grips. But I caved and decided to go for it.

And I'm happy I did. The gun is solid, and about 6 lbs. It doesn't in any way feel or look cheap. No wiggling of the stock or handgrip. I shot 20 or 25 .20 BBs through my chronograph, and it consistently registered between 367 and 380 fps. Especially tight groupings, too. The 8.4 battery gives it an impressive rate of fire--around 640 or 560.

In sum, Evike's description of the gun is accurate. Oddly, there were some minute differences of detail between the stock of the gun itself and the pictures of it on the box and in the manual (which you can see in my video), but they are inconsequential.

So, if you like gangster Thompsons, go for it.

"mine just came in today 4/27/2023
and i haven't shot it at all yet but here's what i will say before updating after bringing it to the field.
as someone else stated it feels very sturdy and solid, it has some nice weight and feels good to hold.
one of my only external gripes is that for a 1928 model i would have liked to see the blish lock style charging handle on the top of the frame. but ehh minor detail the gun still looks great.
