"Great gun! I got the metal version so it is wired to deans. It has a very springy sound when you shoot it but it’s normal. Putting a Perun in it was tough but it’s in there. I would highly recommend an upgraded mosfet as the current one can burn out on an 11.1.

"Great gun if you plan to leave it stock. 5/5
Major headache if you want to upgrade it. 3/5

PROS: great size, pretty good trigger response, folding stock is very innovative, the mag it comes with feeds well and is a major upgrade from previous versions. Comes with an electronic trigger and a mosfet from the factory that pair very well together.

CONS: The new mags are nice but the way they’re designed means there will always be 8-10 BBs left that won’t feed. The polymer version is wired as a tamiya connector. The battery compartment is very small. 1000 MAH is all you’ll be able to fit unless you plan on 3D printing an extended buttpad. As a previous reviewer mentioned, this gun sounds very “springy” (you can feel and hear the mainspring in the gearbox).

Speaking of the gearbox, it says it’s a V2 gearbox… but it’s G&G’s “upgraded M.I.G.” The gearbox shell is not like a standard V2 and makes routing wires a pain when you switch the ETU to a PERUN Hybrid unit (which I highly recommend). When and if you do switch to a perun, you have to cut the wires that run to the battery because of the folding stock connectors. Or you have to change the folding stock to something else.

UPGRADES: If you want up upgrade throw in the Perun Hybrid. The benefits of it are well worth the cost, but to get it to work with this you’ll have to know how to solder. As mentioned earlier, the battery connector is tamiya so I’d recommend switching to deans for size in the limited battery compartment and the increased performance and run an 11.1 lipo. Keep the stock hop up unit, but go for a tight bore barrel and new bucking. I tried throwing in a 35k motor with stock gearing but it kept blowing the 25amp fuse. (You could put in a higher amp fuse but then your battery becomes the fuse *very bad idea*)

Keep the same cylinder, go with the Kratos piston and whatever head you want to. The stock nozzle is polymer so go with the MAXX double O-ring nozzle made of metal. I tried 13:1 gears by EMG but the stock gearing is completely adequate.

With the upgrades I did I get 12 rps on semi, and 22 rps on full auto. I run exclusively .25 gram BBs and my FPS never leaves the 300-302 fps range.

If I could do this build again, I’d pull the entire gearbox and use it for a different gun and just HPA this one with a standard V2.

Hope this helps,
Patter

"purchased one of these a few months after it came out, its a good little gun, and as of right now, its the peak of arp9s. it does suffer from the common arp9 problem of tight battery space, (any 1000mah stick lipo should fit, but I cannot imagine a larger mah fitting) but in this case its worth it, I was worried when I purchased this that the length of pull would be to long as it is essentially a fixed stock, but its right where I want it, its perfect, i attempted to swap the grip, but it turns out you cant! what ever grip you want to put on here your going to need to modify with a quite a bit of sanding to get it to fit. the last thing that I have to note is fresh out of the box, it would not feed, at all, thats across 5 diffrent magazines and the (in my opinion) silly magazine it came with. I had to sand the air nozzle down and now it feeds perfect. my final complaint is just the nature of the beast, but it sounds very "sproingy" as in you can hear the spring vibrating after you let off a shot, it really detracts from what a gun should sound like, clean, strong and snappy, and this has all 3, but that sound bugs me. might put in a diffrent brand spring in the future and see if that eliminates the sound.
as this is a cqb primary weapon, I planned on putting a light on it, and I generally go for vertical grips on smaller guns, but i did not like where my thumb rested with a vertical grip, went with a m lok afg and it put my thumb right ontop of the handguard, put a pressure switch and its working, but it feels weird holding a such a small gun with thumb over bore, I might attempt to mount a pressure switch at the 10, 11, clock position in the future so I can use a vertical grip, but its going to require some work as the cuts in the rail are very large, there is not going to be allot of surfface area to glue a pressure switch to it. but for right now, the afg will work fine.
I am only rating this 4 stars because it was a real smack in the face to not be able to use a diffrent motor/pistol grip, the fact that it did not feed at all was a huge red flag to me, and the sound of the spring really kills it for me.
other than that, good gun and I would infact recommend it if you have never dipped your toe in the arp9 market.
