CYMA Standard Stamped Metal AK74U Airsoft AEG Rifle w/ Steel Folding Stock and Wood Furniture

"I think this is a solid AEG.

Good:
-Construction is solid.
-Performance is good.
-Very aesthetically pleasing and relatively unique on the field.

Bad:
-Selector switch doesn't engage well in the semi-auto divet.
-Lower handguard has forward and backwards play that is annoying.
-Cannot pull back charging handle to expose hop-up with battery installed/dust cover shut.
-Stock has a good amount of movement and does not inspire a lot of confidence in me; I think it is the weakest aspect of the AEG's' construction.

Overall, I am pleased with this purchase.

"My first AK and I love it. Its a great gun for the price, and I can't wait to start modding it.

Pros:
- Metal Work: Good weight and low wobble (Some wobble expected because AK).
- Wood Work: The wood has a very nice finish on the outside that is well polished, however this means it can be a bit slippery with gloves. The interior and edges of the wood are not as polished and you might want to sand them a bit, else risk a splinter in your finger.
- Well Balanced: Less front-heavy than I expected even with skeleton stock. Much easier to run/maneuver with one-handed than my ARs and, while I am not particularly strong, its relatively easy to fire it one-handed like a pistol.

Mixed:
- Front Sling Mount: The small ring is too small for my sling clips, but this may just be a quirk of the real firearm. Fixed easily with a loop of paracord.
- Rear Sight Accuracy: The gun shoots a bit high of the Ironsights even with the hop-up turned off. Doesn't really matter in airsoft, though.
- Disassembly: Removing and swapping the handguard is very easy, however disassembly of the rest of the gun seems rather tedious. There are screws in the mag-well holding the hop-up/inner-barrel assembly in place making barrel cleaning a chore. Additionally, CYMA uses a LOT of glue on their orange muzzles and its reverse threaded, so righty-loosey. I scratched the hell out of the paint on my flash hider trying to get it off.
- Rate of Fire: The RoF is rather slow for an AEG, which I personally like as it replicates the real AKS-74U, however if you wished to crank every bit of performance out of your gun, its underwhelming.
- Sound: This AEG is loud, and honestly a bit intimidating. Vaguely sounds like a real firearm with a suppressor.

Cons:
- Low Power: Advertised at 420 ft/s with 0.2g BBs, however I was getting 350 ft/s. I'm personally okay with this as it fits my field and playstyle fine, however it isn't what was advertised.
- Battery Space: This AEG is built for NiMH stick batteries with the idea that they slide into the top handguard via a hole in the dust-cover compartment. To fit my 7.4v LiPo stick in, I have to fold some internal wiring and stuff the LiPo into the very tight space within the dust cover as it does not fit into the handguard.
- Charging Handle: The charging handle feels awful. Its squeaky, jiggly and doesn't travel well. The handle is also annoying to hold open while adjusting hop-up. It doesn't matter for performance, but its overall unsatisfying.
- Stiff Stock Latch: The button to release the stock so that it can fold was VERY stiff out of the box. I ended up putting a cloth over it and hammering the button about a dozen times until it loosened enough to be able to use my fingers.
- Selector Switch: The firemode selector switch does not click securely into place on semi-auto (the lowest position). I could see this leading to the selector wiggling into full-auto (middle position). However, this could just be a quirk of my specific gun.
- Mag Color: Came with a brown hi-cap mag when its pictured with and orange hi-cap. I wan ma oramg.

"Absolutely love this gun. Put my Titan 7.4b 3000 mah in it and it’s a monster. Very lightweight and great range for such a small weapon. I use .25s or .28s. CYMA is an amazing brand and I highly recommend this gun for anyone wanting something lightweight with good range
