SRC SM8 Airsoft AEG Rifle w/ Two Hi-Cap Mags - Black
Originally designed under the US Army's Objective Individual Combat Weapon (OICW) program; the XM8 was a part of a complete weapon system which was then later separated from the program to be a stand alone weapon. The XM8 was a weapons concept the US Army was hoping to replace the standard M4 / M16 weapons platforms for the standard infantry rifle in favor of a much more modular and lightweight space age design. The goal was for a cheaper, lighter, and easier to maintain all-in-one weapons platform that can be easily re-configured into multiple variations to fill various roles on the battlefield from a short barreled PDW to a bipod equipped support weapon.
SRC now makes one of the best XM8 AEG's on the market with their new gen.2 Tokyo Marui type Version 3 reinforced gearbox. The new generation gearbox features 8mm bushings, reinforced steel gears, and a metal hop-up chamber. The rifle's receiver, front, and rear assembly are all constructed out of high impact reinforced polymers to cut down on weight and the adjustable stock helps keep a compact profile. The rifle itself has completely ambidextrous controls to cater to both left and right handed shooters. A 1.5x scope is integrated to the rifles upper receiver and carrying handle with a set of flip up back up iron sights.

"I've had this gun for a couple months now, but am just now reviewing it since I finally used it in a game. Externally, the gun is very tough, even with a plastic body. Has a very solid feel and a nice heavy weight to it. The adjustable stock is a nice feature, but is pretty wobbly. (I keep it fully retracted anyways) Scope works nicely but also is very wobbly on the railing. It has fake knobs but is adjusted by using an allen wrench on the top and side of the scope. Battery space is a little tricky, but you get used to it. I use a G&P small 8.4 and it fits snug. Also thought I'd mention the safety switches are kind of loose on the gun. One has already came off and needs to be reattached. Internally, the gun is VERY nice with full metal hop-up and steel internals. As for performance, mine chronoed right around at 350 fps with .25g. With the hop-up properly adjusted, I was easily hitting targets at 100-150ft. I could hit farther, but accuracy does suffer. Now pros and cons list.
ENORMOUS flash hider (requires very small allen wrench to remove)
Loose safety switches
Limited battery space
In conclusion, I was very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend this gun!
"just got my sm8 in the mail and the 9.6 battery i ordered with it doesn't fit at all in the battery compartment , but luckily i had a 8.4 battery laying around so i tryed that and it fit nicely so if your going to get an sm8 get an 8.4 battery so you aren't stuck with something that doesn't fit
"For an overall review on a rifle, it's actually pretty great, but it's not without its flaws.
Cons first: Stock broke on me during unboxing. As soon as I put my weight into it, it broke. Stock is cheap hollowed plastic, held together with small plastic notches and glue. Hard to pull back and forth, even when it was working. Luckily, it's easy to fix since it's cheap plastic. Gorilla tape and Gorilla Glue, fixed it all up. Magnifiying scope isn't all that great, since it's only 1.5x, but for close quarters it's alright. Doesn't come with battery or charger either, so you'll have to spend extra on that and wait for shipping, unless you buy in store. Battery compartment is also extremely limited. Standard 9.6v 1600 mAH butterfly battery fits, but you have to fight the wiring and spacing to get it to fit. Not many (if any at all) replacement parts available either. No spot for pitcanny rail.
Finally, the Pros: Iron sights on rifle are great, metal gearbox (compared to some M4's that broke on me 1st day), very comfortable in the hands, scope is removable, internals can be customized with G36 series, fires decently, big eye candy for anyone on the field, makes a great DMR
If you can work around the Cons and put in the effort, it makes a decent gun or project gun. Currently upgrading mine with M170 spring for High Torque build. From all the internals I've messed with so far, this gun hits HARD!
