(Write a review) "It seems like a lot of reviews on here are for a different model of Tavor. I owned an Ares Tavor before and there are features on this one that solve a lot of the problems that gen 1 Tavors had:
the mag release switch has a much stiffer spring on it plus the magwell is very tight, so now your mag won't wobble or accidentally drop out of your gun when your hand budges the mag release lever.
It's also a huge bonus that this model comes with a monolithic upper rail, freeing up your choice of sights to use with this rifle.
Another handy feature is that it comes with 4 qd sling points: one on each side in the front and the back. Other Tavors force you to run Paracord through a hole in the buttstock.
Some people might not like this feature, but the battery compartment is in the handguard and requires an Allen key/hex wrench to open. The compartment isn't very big, as I can just fit a 7.4v brick in there. It seems like you might be able to cut away some plastic to make more space but don't quote me on that.
The coveted quick-change spring feature is still present and accessed in the same way as before, in the buttstock. There is also a convenient tube back there to stow an Allen key for the handguard!
Last but not least is the FCU. Semi-auto with the old Tavor was unreliable with a mushy trigger and slow trigger response. With the FCU, you can feel a click where the trigger hits contacts and a full cycle of the gearbox is initiated, making for a more confident and smooth-shooting semi-auto experience. The trigger pull is still a little bit heavy and the reset is a little long and it's not as crisp as a gbb pistol but I don't know about a stock gun at this price level to have a trigger THAT nice, let alone a bullpup rifle.
Accuracy is what you'd expect from a Tavor, so no complaints there.
In my opinion, as a stock rifle, this is the best version of the Tavor being sold today. If you want one, go for this one. It will serve you well on the battlefield, as it has for me "So far this is a wonderful gun. a tad bit backheavy, but that is to be expected from a bullpup. Fun to shoot so far, still tweaking the hop a bit. The only problem I have run into so far is that the gun doesnt seem to want to take magazines other than the one it came with (the mag lock wont lock properly with echo 1 M4 mags). High ROF with a 9.6, but you get an electrical smell from the stock when you fire. havent skirmished with it yet, will most likely be an awesome skirmish gun.
Nice solid composite body
The metal is solid
near perfect match to the real weapon
Wont seem to take echo M4 mags
Electrical smell after short periods of firing
its "that gun" from call of duty.
So all around awesome, Good looking gun, unfortunately they put it into a modern warfare game so now its just "that gun from MWF2". still a very nice gun. "Just got mine in today, unfortunately had to get it from another dealer. the externals are very high grade nylon fiber, the majority of the body is textured except the fore grip, rail, and the metal part above the charging handle. the fire selector is especially easy to use, since its not a full 180 rotation, it also can be moved to the left side of the gun. one of the most innovative features is the battery compartment its refreshingly easy to open and close, and can fit a 9.6v butterfly with no problem. the mag-release makes mag changes a breeze. i have seen a number of complaints about the lack of sling mounts, the rear has a hole for making a para-cord loop to attach a sling to and is accurate to the real steel weapon. unfortunately, there is no forward sling point, unlike the reel steel. however, there is a small hole drilled into the frame above the charging handle that u can feed para-cord through to make a forward sling mount with. i set up mine with a mission spec Irene adaptive sling and it works well. i have also thrown on a fiber optic green dot sight. i would also like to note there is a small hole drilled into the hand grip that looks like it could be for an optional rail system. i had no problems with using eliteforce midcaps and a lonex flash-mag in the gun. this gun shoots hard and is very accurate with a 510mm inner barrel. i will probably upgrade to a 650mm 6.03 tightbore at some point to make a nasty dmr build. overall very impressed with the gun and happy with my purchase.
Super easy battery changes,
510mm inner barrel
No sling points with our use of paracord (Not really an issue) Read More Reviews Write a Review
