The Tokyo Marui Next Generation Recoil Shock System (NGRS) helps to bridge the realism of a gas blowback rifle with the convenience and performance of an AEG. Utilizing a reciprocating weight, simulated recoil and muzzle flip is generated to simulate an actual cycling bolt. Additional features include an electronic bolt lock back function that locks the bolt back upon firing the last BB from the magazine, the rifle will then stop firing until a loaded magazine is inserted and the bolt stop pressed (feature only works with Tokyo Marui NGRS magazines).

Unlike Tokyo Marui Airsoft guns of the past, the new Recoil Shock System rifles now feature metal receivers instead of all polymer as well as fully licensed trademarks to add to the realism of these replicas. Combined with Tokyo Marui's high quality internals and stock dependability, these rifles are great to skirmish out of the box or as a base for high performance projects.

While the Tokyo Marui NGRS system has been around for nearly a decade in the Asian market, their availability has been limited/restricted due to licensing and importation issues; however through Evike.com and partners, the tried and true NGRS system rifles are now finally going to be readily available state-side.

The Special Operation Forces Combat Assault Rifle (SCAR) was developed by Belgian arms manufacturer FN Herstal (FNH) as a reliable, low maintenance, modular combat rifle for the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) to replace the tried and true M4A1 carbine used by Special Forces units across various branches of the US Military.

The FN SCAR features ambidextrous controls such as an ambi selector and mag release as well as a reversible charging handle allowing the operator to configure the rifle to their preference. The CNC one piece upper receiver features an uninterrupted Picatinny top rail with two removable side rails and a bottom rail to mount any MIL-STD-1913/Picatinny accessories. The high strength polymer lower receiver helps cut down on the over-all weight of the rifle while still maintaining most of the controls of the already familiar M4/M16 system. The telescoping, folding stock allows the rifle to be fully adjustable for length of pull to accommodate any operator. With the stock folded, the SCAR offers a significantly lower profile than even the M4A1 allowing for easy storage and transportation.

"Well, this gun is amazing… it feels great, with the upper being a nice metal, and a he lower being a quality polymer, Giving it a decent weight, and amazing durability, with internals just as nice, this thing kicks like crazy, overall I recommend this gun to anyone who wants a quality Scar-H.

Pros:
- Great Trigger response
- has a lot of kick
- accurate
- actually good sights included
- super easy to remove orange tip
- comes with a Non orange flash hider which looks great
- includes a barrel extension
- no wobble or creakiness (stock has a bit of play but it’s a folding stock, so it’s unavoidable)
- amazing externals
- functioning bolt catch (kinda)
- it’s a good kind of loud

Cons:
- Very little aftermarket support (not the guns fault, just hard to find parts)
- motor likes to jam if you spam semi-auto (I think it’s just mine, but you have to spam it really fast to jam it)
- low fps, not necessarily a con, but the gun may not be able to handle a higher power spring without damaging some parts

"This thing is a BEAST. So worth it. I'll start with cosmetics like I usually do. (Skip to the next paragraph if you want performance ratings)
This thing is awesome. It came with a mag, a cleaning kit and an inner barrel. I added a foregrip to the front and it does feel a little wonky at first but I'll get used to it. Everything works very smoothly, looks and feels just like the real thing.

Performance

PROS:
• Realistic looking and functions like the real thing
• Kicks better than I thought it would
• Very accurate if you compensate for the height of the sights, if you don't its still pretty good
• Battery doesn't run out as fast as I thought it would, lasts probably the same as a standard AEG. I figured with the NGRS it would blow the battery away.
• Powerful even at long range
• Orange tip is easy to remove, just a simple screw to undo. You will need a very small Allen wrench though. (I can't remove mine since it's illegal in my state tho)
• Structure is very sturdy

CONS:
• The extra inner barrel they sent was rolling around inside the box. It had a spot where it was supposed to be strapped down but it wasn't.
• It is a tad light imo, not a con for others but I like my guns heavy.

"Just picked up one of these and would like to present a balanced review. Coming from an 11B background I tend to put realism at the top of my list, followed closely by performance and robust internals. I've owned a couple VFC MK17's, which I believe are really at the top of the SCAR food chain, but this TM NGRS SCAR is really even better looking than the VFC. The FDE color of the polymer lower and the machined aluminum upper are the best airsoft rendition I've seen. Everything on the body is well made of excellent quality materials, and well fitting with no weird wobbles or sticky parts. The trades are also pleasing since they lack any airsoft ad-libbing or references to 6mm, etc. I would give it a 9.5 out of 10 on the externals scale (a 10 would be a real steel SCAR). As far as internals, a quick search and viewing of on-line review videos will tell you a lot, but I'll sum up: TM is regulated by strict Japanese joule limits, and they not only build gearboxes that shoot well under 1 joule, they also make it very hard to increase the FPS. The gearbox internals are quite frankly the worst quality parts I hope to ever see in a $600-plus gun. Expect to spend about 300 additional dollars if you plan to actually use this thing on the field. Fortunately Prometheus, Lonex, etc, make excellent aftermarket parts for the NGRS series, but they come with a hefty price tag. My TM MK17 is now consistently producing 1.4 joules and shooting 'like a laser', but there was a lot of work involved, more so than the usual build due to the 'last round cut off' feature, and incredibly complex recoil mechanism. Ironically I intend to disable the last round fired shut off feature because it gives no indication you're out of rounds until you pull the trigger again, which could be your next engagement. In summary, this TM SCAR is like a Ferrari: beautiful but temperamental. Some collectors are all about having all the best looking guns and accessories. Some of us want simple and reliable because we actual use them on the field. This gun falls on the pretty collector side of the line IMO.
