"I have owned this since 2014, it has seen countless battles across a variety of playing fields including swamps, deserts, forests, and cliffs/mountains. I have owned many airsoft guns an airsoft AKs, including Echo 1s, E&Ls, stamped CYMAs, and many others, and by far the CM042A has lasted the longest. it has a glass fuse that will need replacing every couple of years, or you can take it out and run it without. the body is near all aluminum, so no rust. the maintenance and disassembly is easy due to it being held together by bolts and screws. very powerful, great for field use. low tolerance brass barrel and stock black bucking makes the barrel assembly very durable and require little to no cleaning, no compression issues whatsoever. in 2018 the tappet plate broke, but that was an easy fix. this is the perfect simple AK, the best choice for rough field use, or a reliable backup if your main goes down.

"Great Gun! Picked this up almost a year ago and has worked flawlessly for me.

Pros
- Very accurate
- Good FPS (420-450)
- Lots of metal, the only plastic parts are the motor grip, stock, and RIS rail
- Good ROF

Cons
- mine came without a easy detachable butt-stock plate, so putting in and taking out the battery is kind of a pain (two screws)
- Nothing else that I can think of!!

"Incredible rifle if you're just starting out. My girlfriends first AEG and she loves it. This has pretty high fps so I wouldn't recommend for CQB. If you're playing outdoors and looking for a good quality starter rifle that shoots hot, look no further.

"I've had this gun for a few weeks now but only got to playing my first game yesterday(may 27, 2017) all around this gun is god with high fps and decent rps. The only real con I would say is the weight, after carrying it through woods with mud and slopes it gets very tiring. I guess that is a sacrifice that must be made for all of the metal components. I would recomend this gun if you want something that looks as bad*ss as it performs, and have some meat on you because it gets tough carrying around on a field,(also I would not recomend for CQB).

Greatest starter rifle of all time.

"Gun just arrived today and it's a beast. Fires hard, far, and accurate. It says a battery is not included so I purchased an 8.4V 1600 mAh stick type and a smart charger but when it showed up there was an 8.4V 1200 mini type in the box along with a basic charger. I panicked a bit thinking the stick type wouldn't fit but I was able to sneak it in the stock OK. Guess I have a spare battery!

I tested the gun against a tree in my front yard, about 15 feet away. Aside from the ricochets that almost took my head off, it was pretty impressive to the point of actually leaving holes in the bark of the tree. Also tried it on a cardboard box and it went right through both sides of the box. I was using .20 gram BBs. Whoever I hit with this thing is gonna know it!

Distance wise the gun shoots accurately hitting a person sized target at 100-120 feet. It would probably shoot farther but that's the range I tried it.

Gun has an adjustable hop up but was pretty accurate right out of the box so I haven't messed with it.

The only down side is the weight. I personally like it heavy because it feels well made and realistic, but for a kid or someone smaller it might get too heavy to use for a long period of time. Definitely buying a sling for it.

All in all, this gun is a great buy and I highly recommend it.

"I have only used this gun in the field about 2 times. But i have put about 10,000 rounds through it. It worked fine up until now. The hop up is not good but you will get by with it. Accurate out to 50 feet then the bbs will just curve in all directions. Would not recommend this gun there are better options out there.

"I got this gun as my first Airsoft gun so that I could play with my friends. It shoots really well... That is when it shoots. I had issues with the magazine jamming, not the gun. I would have to stick my unjamming rod into the magazine feed hole in the magazine not the gun. the gear jammed and wouldn't feed. After that it did fine. When it shoots it is very accurate with a little testing and aligning sights. It shoots a lazerbeam. Would recommend upgrading the battery just to be safe though. Overall I am happy with it. It works just fine as a first gun and feels very real. It is heavy so a sling might be helpful too. Have fun shooting!

"I believe I received a defective model or mine may have been damaged in shipping as it doesn't feed properly causing constant jams every 5 or so shots. I've made sure to test multiple mags to make sure that was not the issue however the problem is the same on both making me think the gun is the problem. Seems others enjoyed this model but mine was unusable the day I got it.

"I had read all the reviews on this gun and looked over it before i bought it. The first time i shot it it would jam every time you try to shot in full-auto. You have to use the cleaning rod to dislodge the bb's. After using it in practice for awhile you cant even shoot more then 2 seconds in full auto before it jams. It only worked constantly in semi-auto. i would not suggest buying this gun.
