ZCI 8mm Ver.3 Complete Gearbox w/ Microswitch & QD Spring Change (Wiring: Rear / Small Tamiya)

"This gearbox is AWESOME. Bought it as a drop in replacement for my 6 year old, worn out stock E&L AK74. So to get that out of the way, it DOES fit E&L AKs. I was going to give this 4 stars because I had to Dremel out a slight bit to fit an AK selector switch (the part that runs through the back of the gear box through both sides), I also had to file my dust cover button a tiny bit because this gearbox sits like a millimeter or two lower then the stock gearbox did so the dust cover would lock into place. Both this issues have been solved with very light modification and as a result, I now have a gun that sounds as good If not better than ANY stock AEG I’ve ever heard, including anything from VFC or Krytac.

Response is extremely snappy (installed a rocket hi tq motor as well). It’s quiet, and nothing seems to get warm even after lots of semi auto shooting.

My only 2 grips are both minor. First off, evike shipped this gearbox just out in the open in the box with the rest of my order. No packaging or anything. Not a big deal, but this allows stuff to get in the gearbox. My second gripe (and this is a bigger one) is that I ordered mine with deans connectors and while I don’t know if this is evike or ZCI, but it literally came wired like a normal dust cover battery mounting point with like a 14” Tamiya to deans adapter. Ended up having to solder deans connectors on myself.

Other than that, the price cannot be beat in this one

"If you are looking for a good upgrade or replacement to your V3 gearbox or AK this it.

piston head and teeth are full metal with bearing
spring is a m110.
perfectly shimmed and AOE corrected out of the box/ a little tight on the sector gear the rest needs more grease.
Their is a brass delay chip and the tappet plate is strong.

If you change out the trigger you have to use the same or similar trigger spring or it wont work.

"Bought this with the intention on dropping in a perun hybrid v3 mosfet.
The trigger assembly is proprietary and so is the mounting system it uses.
I had to dremel out a TON of material to fit the mosfet
But in the end i got it to work.

If your going to just drop in the gear box its fine, altho i will say the microswitch trigger doesnt offer anything over your standard trigger contacts
And overall doesnt feel any different to operate than say a cheap cyma trigger switch.
