"Wow just wow. Even the box presentation lets you know your getting a really good rifle.
Pros:
The blow back power is 8/10 but is more than enough.
Magazines slide in perfectly
Cocking handle feels real
Weight is surprisingly comfortable
Sits wonderfully in the hands
Gun is beautiful
Ripped through .32 like nothing
Cons:
Bipod is a tad bit wobbly but whatever that’s not a deal breaker
Gun is awesome and feels great!

"Here we are in 2021, the iconic Type 89 rifle of the Japan Self Defense Force, currently being replaced by the new Type20. Some people call it the ‘weeb’ gun, and by no means they’re not wrong. It’s a gun to buy in order to stand out and express undeniable love for a gun of Japanese quality like that one nerd who buys his $1000 rare nendoroid anime figure. Starting from the packaging, like many Tokyo Marui boxes, they’re great. It’s cloth fabric makes a statement that it’s something special. Box title screams “89 式 小 銃” which pronounced - hachi kyuu shiki shoujuu. Expectedly, the gun is solid, and it shoots loud, very loud with green gas. The retractable bolt gives a little kick. The included bipod is very nice and the 35 rnd magazine is heavy, slightly heavier than most gas M4 mags I’ve hold. Unlike many guns, the select fire is different. On right side when you rotate it CCW, starting ア(Safe), then first is レ(Full Auto), 3(Burst) and finally タ(Semi). Overall, the gun is fantastic. It can be both a nice collector’s gun or a rare GBBR with the reliable ZET gas system as long as it’s properly maintained. I highly recommend getting this with the rail mount. Yes, it’s pricey, but if you have a high ceiling budget, it’s a gun definitely worth while to keep as there’s nothing like it out there.
Pros
Strong Aluminum Construction
Japanese select fire markings
Sturdy gas magazine (35, 30, 20 rnds spare available)
Accurate 100ft shots
Punchy gas action
Top mount rail, enough room for most optics (sold separate)
Metal bipod, easy to detach
Easy magazine release
No wobbles
Select fire switch has nice click and feel
Easy to detach upper receiver
It’s a Type 89
Cons
Tokyo Marui GBBR = Expensive
TM Spare Mags = Expensive
T89 Top Rail Piece = Kinda Expensive
If you want 134a Duster Gas = Expensive outside of Japan
No handguard rail system for accessories

"It’s a beautiful rifle ! Absolutely beautiful ! From the packaging to the rifle itself ! Looks great , fires excellent right out of the box . The only issue I have is after I purchased it trying to find 35rd gbb magazine for it is near impossible..... there are 20rd gbb magazine but let’s be real who really wants 20rd?! When I did find 35rd the shipping would of been more then the rifle itself . But all that being said it really is an excellent rifle it will be perfect for any collection.

"Out of this box this is gbbr performs amazingly and the stock accuracy is insane. I'd recommend to wear ear protection with the gun as firing it actually hurts your left or right ear depending on where you shoulder your gun. Currently I live in New England and even right now as I'm writing this review as of September 22nd, 2019; green gas if fine and works perfectly with this gun even as temperatures cool. If you live in hotter regions try getting a hold of 134a Gun Power Gas which is expensive if you buy it because it is imported from Japan. However, 134a is also duster gas and they make many adapter for it. I will be using duster gas even during the summer here. This gun also has TM's ZET system so it is made for durability, but still you need to keep up with gbbr maintenance. Currently I have no complaints at all for this gun, but I do have one future concern and that is parts for this gbbr. Their M4 MWS has a ridiculous amount of parts especially on Impulse101. The 89 does not have the same abundance of parts so if you do buy this, know that parts for this are scare to none at least for now.
Pros:
- Ridiculously good accuracy out of the box
- Magazines are not like GHK magazines or at least the older ones that need a sanding job on the nubs
- Triple round burst and full auto perform well
- Sturdy construction
- Surprisingly strong recoil
- Unique, not a lot of Type 89's out there on the field
- Crisp trigger response
Cons:
- Bipod likes to scratch the hand guard
- Little to no spare parts unlike its MWS M4 ZET counterpart [Some of the parts seem compatible, but I haven't ran into the issue of replacing parts yet.]
- Magazines are expensive, but are absolute worth it and you will be receiving an excellent product.
- Irritates ears after shooting just a single round, so wear some form of ear protection while using this.
