"Magazine that came with the box did not properly fit in mag well. My suggestion is to get the G&G 190 high cap Vn type magazine for this. It has a great blackish to gun metal finish and look a lot better than just black. Besides the magazine issues out of the box this things for the price is 10/10

"The pictures of the rifle on the description page shows two round dimples on the upper receiver one on the front and one at the back above the charging handle. Iam glad the rifle I receive today did not have them. The rifle is PERFECT, Thank You EVIKE.

"WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just received my order from UPS today, and on the front porch was a large rectangular box that I have been anticipating sense it shipped from EVIKE five days ago. It was like the night before X-MASS when I was a young boy. Brought the box in and opened the top not knowing what to expect, this was my first purchase from EVIKE and my first airsoft rifle. After opening the top there was some packing paper, and after removing it there it was a blue box with COLT in large silver letters on it. Now I know how Ralphy felt after he removed the Christmas paper and saw RED RIDER on the box. I slowly opened the blue box and removing the foam cover, there it was the COLT M16A1 RETRO RIFLE. It was fitted in a perfectly cut out black foam insert. In the foam was the rifle, mag. allen wrench, and sight adjusting tool. With hands shaking I lifted the beauty out of the foam and couldn't wait to examine it. I am a little anal and like things PERFECT. The rifle had NO FLAWS on it at all, and after regaining my breath I worked on the 3-lug flash hider. It had a 1.5mm allen set screw located at the mussel end of the flash hider which came loose very easy. Then I unscrew the flash hider facing the mussel CW. it has 14mm reverse threads. It unscrewed with my hand and no heat needed. The flash hider has an orange triangular shaped cap pinned on with a small roll pin. The cap is only on the three lugs and not the round threaded part of the flash hider. I didn't want to hammer on the roll pin so not to break the lug. I measured the center of the pin from the front and measured the same distance 180 degrees on the other side where the hole will be between the other two lugs. After drilling the hole, I took a small punch and placed the flash hiders lug with the roll pin on a vice so the roll pin would pass through the jaws. You can also use a wood block with a small hole. This EMG far exceeded my expectations for quality, color of the finish and detail to a real Colt M16A1 rifle. Evike was great to work with and answered all my questions. I will be ordering the WE M16A1 gas blow back rifle as soon as they come back in stock. It has the internal parts that look like a real M16A1. I wish it also has Colt markings but the take down and parts will make up for it. Well, that's it I want to get back to my beauty and clean it. Thanks David.

"Totally sick, I get mad compliments on it. I have an entire Vietnam setup and wanted the early m16. It’s not quite a laser but it is rather accurate once you dial in the hopup.

Struggles with magazines, there is a list on the Evike YouTube review. I’ve used g&p midcap, they feed but wrong era. MAG VN seems to work but can fit poorly in the mag well. The only VN high caps that worked are the A&K. Even the mag in the box wouldn’t feed. I used a dremel on these. The tab on the magazine that holds the BBs in can be too long and the hopup just pushes down. If you grind it down a bit the hopup will push it back and release BBs. I’ve also filed the back of the hopup tube a little bit as well.

All that said, I don’t care it’s worth it. It looks amazing and has the right trades. Mags aside I’ve had zero trouble with it which is more than I can say for some other weapons.

"It took me awhile but I found one. I've had access to an old JAC M16A1 like forever. I wanted a repo M16A1pew-pew that had all the Colt AR-15 logos like my fathers JAC. What a pain of a search. So when I found the EMG I took a chance. I must say I got lucky. My new EMG M16A1 pew-pew is almost identical in every visual way to a real steel (ok, aluminum) M16A1 that's in our family. Its weight is nearly identical and the Mosfet circuitry is Sweet! Be aware that it does use a Deans T-Male plug so go LiPo, it needs the larger storage. I use a 11.1V 4500mah LiPo with great results but I've also used 7.4V 2000mah LiPo with very good results and with a minimal drop in RPM to boot. Plus the 7.4V causes less wear and tear on the gearbox as a bonus. It has a MosFet circuit so don't forget to disconnect the battery when not in use. The safety is not an on/off switch like in many airsofts and if it has a separate switch it is well hidden. So if you forget to unplug the battery... Opps.
But don't feel bad if you forget as you have company... Me, a repeat offender and therefore an expert at... charging batteries.
It's a beautiful shooter, I haven't had any problems with jamming and it looks, feels, weighs and handles just like the real steel (aluminum) real deal M16A1 just like my real deal LtC."Topdog" Daddy's!
(I out rank him 'cause I'm his princess.) Right daddy!
There's no rule in the UCMJ against spanking captains, my little dove dropping of joy.
Oh...

"Hey guys/and gals! So first and for most this rifle is beyond what I expected! Feels good and the weights is good! Only thing it doesn’t say on there is that the battery connector is a dean connector. I didn’t know that so I’m getting an adapter for my battery. Other than that I’m so thrilled to use this weapon

"WOW! Wow, what an Airsoft Vietnam Era rifle. Far more than I expected. Everything fits together perfectly and it is so accurate in detail to the original. I can't say enough good things about it. Great job EMG! I highly recommend this one for the Vietnam Era enactments.

"Very worthwhile! The performance out of the box on these retro line of AEGs is amazing! Cyma Platinum gearboxes never disappoint! Good for your Vietnam impressions and or your love for retro style reproductions! I own both EMGs M16A1 as well as their XM177E2 and I love them to death!

"If I could give it 6 stars I would, this thing is a sniper rifle straight out of the box. I have put a grand total of 0 upgrades in this thing and it has out performed my best gun which I upgraded so many parts in. This thing is worth at least $400 with a $265 price tag, this thing is an absolute unit. Iron sights work fantastic, its accurate straight out of the box, even with .2s in it. And you cant beat that Vietnam-era feel to it. Get a few extra mid caps and a rubber bayonet like I did and you got the whole VN kit for it. This is perfect for the people who like to have reenactments or a historical-based kit like I do. This is worth every penny, Colt outdid themselves with this one.

"This AEG is really the bee's knees. Although the product states that it is an M16A1 the features of the lower receiver and three prong flash hider makes this rifle the XM16E1 variant. It is the only one like it on the market and it is perfect for use in my local interactive museum. Playability wise it is an excellent airsoft rifle as the build quality for the receiver is very very durable, and truth be told I almost mistook it for my actual real steel XM16E1 clone rifle. One slight issue is that the magwell is kind of tight but all my magazines that I have tested do drop free without issue. But other than that slight issue it shoots well and it shoots at about 340-360 FPS with .25 gram BBs and a 9.6v butterfly battery.

"For $219, it's a good deal. Couldn't pass it up for the newest version of the XM16E1, always wanted one and this one will definitely do. Glad I waited for this one instead of getting the other older models.

I gotta say, this is a fantastic gun. It feels amazing to handle and the metal is really good. It's not like the pot metal feeling on the Cyma platinum series mlok rifles (the new versions). If you own one, you know that metal on that rifle feels cheap and it almost feels like it would break if you slam it against something. Anyway, this M16 is by far the most sturdiest and quite well built. Combining EMG's quality with the new CYMA gearbox, it's going to last for some time.

Few things to note about the new Cyma gearbox:
- plastic trigger box
- MOSFET will burn out very quickly if you're using a very high voltage battery. I would not recommend full autoing on a 11.1v for a long time because that will burn out the MOSFET. It's a cheap MOSFET but that doesn't mean it's not good. The ROF is about 25-28 rps, give or take, on a 11.1v and 16-18rps on a 7.4v.
These are the two major problems but with a little upgrade along the line, you'll get a great performing gun.

Pros:
- Well built, sturdy, handles great!
- Metal quality is absolute and fantastic.
- Awesome trades on the receiver.
- Correct flat barrel nut and flash hider, true to the RS. (Note: this version is the XM16E1, not M16A1)
- Amazing ROF.
- Magazine feeds all the way.
- True to the RS XM16E1: partial fence, 3-prong flash hider, rotating sling swivel.
- Large battery compartment in the fixed stock.
- Selector switch is tight and have enjoyable clicks to it.

Cons:
- Somewhat "weak" MOSFET unit, upgradable.
- Plastic trigger box. Again, upgradable.
- Wrong name, not an issue though, might bother some people. This is the XM16E1 model, not M16A1.
- It's deans, unfortunately. I prefer my guns with the tamiya connector instead of deans. If you only have tamiya, you need to get a deans to tamiya wire. Again, not a major issue, just a gripe for me.

Overall, it's a great gun! I did considered giving this a 4 stars, but the cons are really just minor issues. This one is definitely a 5 stars in my book.

"I mostly bought this rifle because I like to collect historic rifles, and have a particular affinity for Vietnam era guns. I bought the Helios line XM177 for a special forces kit, but I wanted this one as well for a basic grunt kit.

Pros:
-The EMG Helios line has stellar performance, and like the XM177, this one has fantastic performance.
-High quality Internals.
-Durable construction
-Historic markings and attention to detail set it apart from other M16A1 clones

Cons:
-Not technically an M16A1 (Though most of the details that separate it from an XM16E1 are not present since this is an airsoft gun), but this still historically acceptable for an early to mid 'Nam kit
-Handguard feels lower in quality to the rest of the parts on the rifle, and the spacing does not allow for a real steel triangle guard to be dropped in (I know, I tried).

Overall this rifle gets a 9/10 from me, it's good, it's not overly expensive, and best of all it's more reliable than the real life version. The only point it loses is that the handguard doesn't have more heft, but that's a personal nitpick from me, who admittedly is a bit of a hard-to-please gun nerd.
