The Mk18 Mod 0 is perhaps one of the most famous versions of the M4 carbine ever created. Designed for the US Navy SEALs by the Naval Special Warfare Center's Crane Division (NSWC Crane), the compact carbine was created with the purpose of giving troops an intermediate caliber rifle that was the size of an average submachine gun. Though there are also M4 CQBR kits (an upper receiver to add on to existing rifles, these are the purpose-built carbines built for battle.
They started with M16A1 receivers as a base, cut down carbine-length barrels to 10.3", and outfitted them with the standard drop-in quad RIS and accessories of the SOPMOD Block 1 kit. The improved ergonomics, shorter overall length, and modularity made these rifles a favorite of any operator who could get their hands on them. The lower receiver is properly marked with both Colt M16A1 as well as NSWC Crane Mk18 Mod 0 stamps and roll marks for maximum authenticity. On the rear of the receiver sits a CQD-style ambidextrous sling mount, allowing sling mounting options in front of the front sight block ring and crane stock loops. A cut down rear iron sight allows for aiming while not impeding the attachment of optics such as red dots. The standard 1913 Picatinny / 20mm quad RIS allows for mounting lights, lasers, optics, grips, or other standard accessories.
Internally, the A&K STW is a solid Airsoft AEG utilizing the Systema PTW engine design to bring features such as last round cutoff and easy cylinder set swapping. The A&K STW features crisp trigger pull, reinforced internals from standard version 2 A&K rifles, an internal MOSFET system, adjustable hop-up, and more of what you would expect to find from rifles of the PTW type.
