"Yes, the price is high. Yes, it's an Echo1. But is it really worth it?

I've owned this weapon for over two months now, and got it when it came out. It has done nothing but prove its worth to me as a highly dedicated support gunner. Other weapons in my arsenal include the Inokatsu M60E3, A&K M249 and A&K M60E4 just so people know i'm not inventing my perspective.

To be considering this weapon means you're probably a dedicated support gunner, which means you already know the disadvantages of the weapon. Yes, it's 18lbs of solid, sturdy, no creak aluminum. Yes, it's 49" long. But as a support gunner, large weapons should already be a fact of the game.

I put the weapon to the test at Skirmish USA on February 28. I went through 40k rounds the whole day. How do I know? I measured a .50cal Ammo Can with 8x bags of 5000 round BBs, filling nearly exactly to the brim. I really did not think i'd fly through BBs that fast but I did. The can was empty when I left Skirmish and I was down $100 worth of ammo. At least it was fun doing so. The M240 only jammed once the entire day, and i cleared it on the field just as the second game ended. Out of the box it got incredible range and accuracy, tested out to 55-60yards consistently for effective range on a man-sized target. 70 yards for suppression fire.

Now, is there anything to be wary of?
Yes, certainly as with all guns. The stock has been known to come off easily with a swift smack at the bottom, and in one case cut through the battery wiring for one person. My stock fits and sticks fine, so I guess I got lucky. Definitely clean the barrel though; it's filled with barrel-clogging gunk and your accuracy/consistency will improve dramatically.

Other things of worthy note?
The bipod is sturdy as all hell and i have no doubts it will hold up to a lot of strain and pressure for years. The box mag feeds as you pull the trigger, so no winding is ever needed. The mag also holds 4000-5000 rounds of BBs. The ladder sight is also fun for lobbing shots. One bad thing to note though, is the lack of places to hold the M240 while moving forward firing. Lefties will be more comfortable since the box mag is very intrusive to the support arm. It's an MMG class weapon though, so it should almost always be fired from a fixed position unless you can manage somehow?

So in the end, would I recommend this? Only to support gunners and dedicated collectors. But it is more than worth adding to their arsenals if you're one, and I hope you will be as happy with it as I was. I honestly only gave it a four star cause of its price and specialization. So support gunners, if you got enough guts and muscle to wield this, by all means join the M240 club!

"Bought this brand new from a friend, took it to Milsim West completely stock. Here's the rundown on it:

-the front sight post is pressed on with a 12 degree tilt to the right, noticeable but does not affect aiming
-fired .25s at .77 joules with 28 rounds per second
-the bucking got jammed up and had to be replaced before the event started
-button on the barrel release switch came off, switch still works
-the wires to the box mag were cut by the feed tray cover, the wires are located in a terrible spot
-trigger switch broke with little effort trying to remove the gearbox for maintenance

The gun otherwise held up very well. Highly recommend upgrading the gearbox and building a second one from the Echo1 shell, as well as putting a Maple Leaf bucking in.

Given how low grade the internals are for an MMG, and how it feels like cheap metal (the weapon weighs 9 lbs less than the real 240), it doesn't feel like it's worth the price, but if you bite the bullet and get one, after upgrades it is very much worth it.

"This has been out of stock seemingly forever does anyone have an idea when it will be back in stock?

"The Good:
-It's a pretty accurate recreation of the 240
-It shoots well
-It looks and feels amazing

The Bad:
-The bipod catch on the receiver broke within 24 hours (Bipod was out constantly until I ziptied it)
-The charging handle spring broke in 72 hours
-The trigger is absolute garbage

Overall:
I regret paying $600 for this, but it's cool to play with and as a prop piece. I just wish at the pricepoint they didn't skimp by using garbage potmetal on key components

"Odd, cumbersome and bulky, all parts are loose so you will lose them in the field, such as your barrel latch and carry handle, magazine is cardboard and junk cheap plastic stock

"I'm gonna start off by saying I'm in love with this gun. It's not for performance reasons mind you, but there is just something about it. First time I ever brought the old girl out, the jaws dropped on everyone's face, as well as always being asked if they could shoot it was priceless. The externals are great on it for the most part, however you will be hit by things like the broken bipod lug, burring on the stock attachment point and perhaps the charging handle breaking off. So far I've had this gun since June, 2015 and when it works, it shoots impeccably. This thing has been serviced six times due to the piston shredding or parts breaking. I put up with it because I'm stupid and just seem to can't sell it because I want it to work too much. I'll probably end up just HPA'ing this thing just so that way the mechanical nightmare will end. Also the gun is quite cumbersome for all but the largest of folks. This beast of BB gun will test your patience and your wallet's endurance, but I would do it all over again.

"First the box my M240 came in was a Golden Eagle box. This was no suprise as Matrix simply rebrands guns and parts. Out of the box I noticed two things wrong, one being the front iron sight post was very crooked. I wasn't too concerned with this as I was also using a 4x optic with it and wouldn't be using the iron sights. The second being the rail mount was also crooked so the rail was not squared up with the reciever of the gun. Again, kind of a minor cosmetic issue but still was dissapointing for 530 bucks. Moving past the external problems I took it for some weekend rec play at my local field. Stock rate of fire was very impressive even on a 9.6v and the magazine fed nicely, all of for about 10 minutes of play before the gun simply stopped shooting. I packed the gun up and brought it home to open up the gearbox and found the results all the more frustrating. The teeth on the piston were almost comletely sheared off as well as several teeth on 2 of the gears, only after 10 MINUTES of play. Overall I was very dissapointed because I payed 530 dollars for the quality of a 100 dollar starter gun, actually I should take that back as I have a 100 starter gun that has run much longer than this one. I probably just got the runt of the bunch but I regret not forking up a few hundred more dollars for the Echo 1 M240B.

"If any portion of this gun ever breaks, you are on your own. There are simply no replacement parts. It will become a large 20 lb paperweight. Thats all. Aesthetically, it looks awesome. Its made of poor quality chinesium pot metal. Good luck.

"Bought this hunk of pot metal back in October of 2017, paid Evike to tune it up. It ran awesome for maybe 10k before stripping the piston. Like most normal human beings I had already taken the flaming orange no-no off the muzzle end and given those liable for any repairs the get-out-warranty free card so when it crashed and burned I was on my own. I accepted this fate and moved on knowing I would have to shell out more money, no big deal I liked the thing!

Coming from my military experience I love the real steel 240B, this replica doesn't do it any justice. It's basically been under a constant state of maintenance, which is fine. Most airsoft enthusiasts understand the lack-luster quality plaguing this hobby and have accepting the fact that we will be maintaining and rebuilding our replicas until the externals fail entirely.

Unfortunately this bad boy failed externally way too early, after taking a waist height spill the plastic stock decided it wasn't meant for this world and fragged beyond repair. Sure after looking at how the stock was designed/built it looks as if it would have folded if you stared at it menacingly but that didn't fade me too much, my fondness for the 240 platform kept me wanting to keep it alive.

So I emailed Evike, they said they would see what they can do about finding a replacement stock. Several months past, I figured I would email them back again. Unfortunately I just received the same old generic response that they will be "inquiring with their acquisitions department to see about ordering me a new part". To this day they've expanded the line of spare parts for the 240 replica's but sadly no buttstocks have popped up on my radar.

I don't think I've ever left a negative review in my life, heck it took me over three years just to write this one! But after looking at the oversized paperweight over-and-over again hoping that one day it would be resurrected I've just given up on the thing entirely.

I'm sure some of you guys have had a great time with this replica, making its quarks work as best as possible. Sadly my long term advice for anyone looking is to consider something else entirely.

"Similar to another reviewer, my Golden Eagle "Matrix" m240b chewed it's gearbox apart in under 10mins of trigger time. The sector gear and spur gears had nearly completely stripped themselves. Similarly several exterior points where crooked or otherwise out of alignment. Also note this gun is not lipo ready. The gun chrono's at around 320fps with 0.25's for the short duration it was working out of the box.

I purchased a number of parts from Echo 1 USA for their m240 for repairs and in hopes of increasing the guns reliability, and quickly found out that almost NONE of Echo 1's parts are interchangeable with this Golden Eagle gun. GE uses slightly different sizes for nearly everything; so Echo 1 parts are either too short, too tight, too small, too long, etc. This includes the gearbox shell, cylinder & cylinder head, piston nozzle, hop up mount, and spring guide. I also found the echo 1 wiring harness, which has a mosfet and low resistance wiring, will NOT power the GE box magazine feeding motor.

DO NOT BUY THIS GUN unless you are very comfortable fabricating and altering parts for yourself.
