The first standard issue semi-automatic rifle issued to the US Armed Forces, the M1 Garand was referred to as "the greatest battle implement ever devised" by General George S. Patton. Replacing the venerable Springfield M1903 in 1936, the M1 Garand quickly displayed its huge advantage on the battlefield. During World War II, the M1 Garand saw extensive use and gave US forces a major advantage in firefights against Axis soldiers who were usually issued slower bolt-action rifles. The M1 Garand remained in service throughout the Korean War and even had limited deployment in the early years of the Vietnam War. The rifle still continues to be used even in the modern day by drill teams and military honor guards as well as in the civilian market long after it was retired from active service.

"It's a good gun, real good. Shoots good and far, looks great, it's perfect for any WW2 buff that want's a Garand replica that holds true to the real deal.
However, it has a selector switch that allows you to shoot in full auto. Somehow, my second game using, a bb got stuck in there. I got it out, however now it only shoots in full auto, no semi. Now I have to be real gentle with my trigger pulls so I don't full auto someone and get in trouble lol.
If you can avoid that, and keep shooting semi, it's a great gun.

"In addition to being the most affordable and widely available M1 Garand AEG, A&K's version quite possibly has overtaken ICS and G&G to produce the most accurate impression of the real thing with the exception that the A&K M1 Garand is not stamped with any trademarks on the receiver. Previous reviewers have noted visual differences between A&K's version and the real thing in their early production, namely that the grip of the stock is too rounded and contoured from the buttstock and that the foregrip begins to taper too quickly. I'm happy to report that these differences have been corrected.

The functioning of the gun is as described in Evike's product listing and in the other reviews, posted here. I find the review by John R. on 07/30/2017 the most helpful, because he compares the A&K to the ICS, the G&G, and 2ndBat custom M14 conversions. Back when the Marushin GBB was the only alternative (and an expensive one), I was considering converting my Tokyo Marui M14 into an M1, but it's pretty involved. I really wanted something that would be good enough, out of the box and offer some possibility of improvement, afterwards. I read a 2017 thread on forum of the WW2 Airsoft Association that described modifications to make an A&K more realistic, based on the visible discrepancies between the shape of A&K's Garand stock and the real thing. In 2017, A&K's version had too much round contouring around the grip and tapered too quickly, forward of the magazine well. The modifications to fix it are more than I would want to take on, and in my opinion, would be harder than transplanting to a real Garand stock.
