" First off I am new to airsoft and I am coming from a backgroud of real steel guns which I have been using for a while now.
With that said I was looking for a beginner rifle that I could use as an into to the sport that was all metal and that I could modify to use as a cheaper clone of my firearms. This rifle checks all the boxes for great price, and does not disappoint out of the box.
While it shoots fine for a beginner rifle and is ready to be modded, the cracks started to show quickly. First I noticed that a few screws on the acessories were rusting and the pivot pin was showing signs of corrosion. This could be seen on the parts that werent cerakoted.
Next I noticed that the cerakote has built up a layer on the top 1913 rail on the reciever making it out of spec so that It wont fit optics such as aimpoints and sig romeos. After about 2mins of struggling I have my optic on the receiver albeit with the loss of some cerakote.
I then noticed that the front handguard has a large amount of vertical play, meaning that when gripped the rail will move excessively. Upon further inspection I found that it has no forward locking tabs that interface with the front handguard cap which allows this excessive movement.
Lastly I noticed when looking through the optic that the FSB was canted. When I went to inspect it, the entire FSB moved in my hand independently of the outer barrel. Though it doesn't seem like the FSB will fall off the gun, one light tap could entirely get rid of the zero on your iron sights.
In conclusion I believe that the price of this rifle is not worth all these qc errors. If you are looking for a budget rifle maybe look for one with a better reputation and less parts that require tight tolerances such as 1913 rails and FSBs. If you are looking for an all metal gun maybe save up another $100 and look for something with a solid build quality and a higher degree of precision.
I know it may seem elitist of me and I personally have not handled many airsoft rifles but I kind of wish I had set more money aside for an AEG with a better reputation and build quality.
