It was one of the final developments in the long line of Mauser military rifles. Although supplemented by semi- and fully automatic rifles during World War II, it remained the primary German service rifle until the end of the war in 1945. Millions were captured by the Soviets at the conclusion of World War II and were widely distributed as military aid. The Karabiner 98k therefore continues to appear in conflicts across the world as they are taken out of storage during times of strife.
One of the most iconic bolt action infantry rifles during World War II, the Mauser KAR 98K earned its reputation of being a reliable, accurate, and rugged out on the battlefield.
Today KAR 98 rifles are sought after for their historical value as well as their beauty and craftsmanship.
The Matrix KAR 98K does an exceptional job of recreating this historical rifle for Airsoft and reenactment use. The stained wood stock is beautifully crafted and adds a much desired heft to the overall weight of the rifle. The bolt mechanism is very smooth and has a very solid lock up that has minimal play.

" This was my first gas rifle, and it really packs a punch. It shoots 450 fps with .20 gram bbs, and 400 fps with .40 gram bbs, and that was after I put 100 rounds through the gun. All of this was with 8g CO2. I wasn't very impressed with the Green Gas/Propane tank, but that's because it was too cold to really perform well.
Being my first gas rifle, I didn't know exactly how to attach the bolt, but it was pretty simple. The bolt is also pretty stiff right out of the box, but after a while it loosens up. The bolt seems a bit wobbly, but is entirely functional--I don't see it breaking anytime soon. The gun also came with another spring and other little parts. I have no clue what those are or how to install them, but I assume it is to make the gun shoot a higher fps.
Pros:
Real wood is NICE. I'm a sucker for real wood and full metal guns
Heavy!!
CO2 and Green Gas
Unique serial # (I think)
Nice engravings (no swastika, but that could be a pro or con)
CO2 Gas lasts forever, even though its 8gram CO2
Cons:
No instructions whatsoever. :(
Front sling point is loose. It doesn't come off, but it kinda sucks.
10 rounds, with $50 dollar magazines. Better get good at reloading.
Overall, I think it's a great gun. There aren't many good options for affordable WWII guns, but this is an exception. Definitely worth the money. Also, pick up a real-steel sling for this, it works well.
" So here is the back story with my rifle i ordered a S&T KAR98K shell ejecting model. Evike sent me this rifle though (I don't know why). But anyways a got $110 deal but that is how i got this here rifle. The rifle is externally AMAZING! beech wood imported from Germany and stain less steel metal parts what else more could you ask for? The markings are VERY nice they are deep and very fine with its own serial number. Internally it uses a VSR hop up and barrel it has a 6.03mm TB out of the box and full metal internals. It uses a magazine that can be green gas or CO2 your choice (i use propane). I got a clean shoot on a human torso sized target 8/10 times at 300 feet it achieves this by shooting around 520 FPS. The only problem i had is i had to change the striker spring which an extra one came with it, it was a very easy fix. In the end this is one of the best guns i had a right out of the box sniper rifle!
