Regarded as one of the best bolt gun actions ever made, the Mauser Kar98 is the benchmark in which most are compared to. The Karabiner 98 Kurz (Carbine 98 Short) or Kar 98K is a shortened variant of the Gewehr 98, the Kar 98K was the primary issue infantry service rifle of the German army from 1935 to the end of The Second World War in 1945. The rifle saw action in every theater of war involving German forces. While it was outclassed by semi-automatic rifles fielded by US troops, the Kar 98k was a formidable weapon despite its rate of fire disadvantage. The Kar 98k demonstrated outstanding reliability and accuracy throughout the war; it was not uncommon for soldiers to be able to make effective shots out to 500 meters with iron sights and up to 1000 meters by skilled snipers using telescopic sights. The reputation and success of the rifle led to the Kar 98K finding its way into the hands of infantry of many opposing nations as captured or scavenged weapons. Today the Mauser Kar 98K is a highly sought after historical weapon by collectors and firearm enthusiasts alike.

"Just an update in case some of you have experienced the rear share coming out after cocking the rifle in the manuel here it's parts SWO32 - 33 -34 and 35. When I cocked the rifle doing some target practice the SWO35 screw came out on me. I found all the parts because I was shooting inside and they fell close to me, but the spring is real small and hard to fine and the screw. I think this also happened because I had to force the bolt home a few times hard because there where BB particles stuck in the bolt carrier. I was able to get them out playing with the bolt but I think cause I was going back an forth so hard the screw came loose and feel out and when I cocked the rifle the share came flying out. Getting it back in you have to get the barrel assembly out of the stock. There is a video online to dismantle the rifle but it is not the same rifle as this one the magazine is like to one that goes into the M1903a1 with the take down door. watching him take the rifle apart there are the two screws on the side of the stock that he takes out on our rifle they are dummies the none gas version of the Kar98, they do not come out so a little force and the rifle separates from the stock then you will be able to put those parts back if you want. Without those parts in I did fire the rifle many times with no problems and the safety did work as supposed to, so I dont you don't need them to shoot I think they like the screw on the side of the stock are for show. This is the video I found on disassembling the Kar98 spring action, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTIC2Em07gA . I did all he did and found the two scres left and right on the stock in the wood are dummy, I did not take the bolt assembly apart but looking at it after i got the rifle out of the stock looks the same.
Except for these two things the BB's leaving fragments in the bolt assembly and those parts coming loose the rifle is 10 out of 10 for me. I found the BB's doing this when I closed down the hopup mostly and a bang on the floor GENTALLY will move them enough to get the rifle working again because they do not go into the spring part of the bolt just the carrier. I have the gas version of this rifle as well have not fired it as much as the spring version so not sure if this is a factor in that one. The safty also is a problem in both versions of the rifle it gets stuck wiither left or right. In this version a little WD40 and let sit upside down for a few min fixed the saftey but be carefull not to spray allot and get it in the bolt area. On the gas version I had to play allot with the safty and found last night that if you pull the saftey back just a little and ally presure and wiggle it then it moves tight but it will move. And the safety on the gas one only moves if the bolt is cocked and ready to fire just like the real Kar98, so I will not be using the safty on it cause if I am cocked and ready to fire I fire it,

Both rifle are made really well and tight and accurate out of the box FPS drops at around 350 to 380 but I do not play in games so not a problem for me, so I still highly recommend this rifle both of them I just did this update to let people know about the parts that fell out of mine and that the rifle will still work on the spring version because I think they are more for realism.

"So I got this as my first bolt action air soft gun and I gotta say, loved it! The bolt goes back and fourth as you would expect and smoothly. HOWEVER, make sure you pull it back all of the way or else it will jam and your BBs will fall on the ground. I got the faux wood version and it does scratch easily. It's pretty heavy too so helps with the realism.

When you run out of BBs, the bolt will jam all the way to the back. Do not worry. This is normal. Simply pull the bolt back a bit more and release the empty mag. Once you reload or have the mag removed, push the bolt forward again.

The safety after 2 months began to jam as well where I figured this out by pulling it gently and pushing down on the "button" to have the safety rotate freely.

For reenactments and having a WW2 themed airsoft battle, this is the perfect gun for you. Spend hours using it outside with others. I added a leather sling to it as well and it looks amazing.

"Got this Kar 98 full wood version on Wednesday as soon as I opened the box and pulled it out, I was in love. I originally wanted the shell ejecting one, but they did not have the wood version, and I did not want to settle. Then I was thinking why do i want to keep loading shells, so I saw this one and they had in the wood, so I said try it. Now I heard here allot about the bolt holding after the last round and you cannot push it back and this is true. Besides the safety on the bold that you move left and right this is a second one to let you know you are out of ammo. You have to pull the mag out to get the bolt forward, but the mag does not come out the normal way. All you have to do is pull back on the bolt and release the mag you can go back another 1/8th of an inch or so and get the mag out. I like this feature also.
I bought the scope with this one also. Now we found something I am not crazy about
1- It sits too far back for me
2- I have to move my eyes to get to see the entire front end, but this is me I am not good with scopes hand I do not like zeroing them in with a screwdriver. I was hitting up and down could not get close to the center, but I did hit the target.
3- Pulled off the scope and used the iron sites and 5 out of 10 in the center mark.
Now I have the Matrix M1903A3 and the Double Eagle Type 96 M59A Airsoft Shadow Ops. Sniper Rifle, the M59A came with a scope but again I hate the screwdriver adjustments be leave it or not when I aimed above the scope I hit the target better. So I have to learn better to zero in.
The M1903 A3 was my favorite Bold action rifle but now out of all my rifles I love this one the best and I have 8 now the others are semi and full auto electric with a couple .177 CO2 rifles but when I go to shot this is the first I pick up and spend hours shooting it.
It is a mush to get if you like the old guy's WW2 to Vietnam era weapons which I am starting to collect.
