"Review of the SA X01 in black, the 6" m-lok model with foregrip.

Good replica, just not priced well for the states, likely because of international shipping and other reasons at the time of this review. An MSRP of 400 is frankly ridiculous, and the sale price of 280 is okay at best...frankly there are noticeably better options for the cost, though this may change given the uncertain market, so grain of salt regarding cost.

Externals are very nice, lightweight, and good looking, decent metal quality with good fitment. Receiver pins seem to be made of very cheap metal with low quality finish, may be a corrosion risk in the long term but held up to being hit with a hammer/punch. It comes with an M-lok grip which is perfect for it, although it has a few sharp plastic edges. Still, it's durable and comfortable where it counts. Perfect for conventional foregrip usage or C-clamping alike.

Internals are okay but should be a bit better for the cost (piston/nozzle, cylinder head), shoots totally fine, but the motor is noticeably subpar in this category. The replica uses the Gate Aster to optionally make up for its shortcomings - precocking to compensate for a lower RPS motor for faster trigger response, etc, but that comes at the cost of stressing the internals more. Trigger response IMO, is fine, but is as slow as a heavier sprung gun on the same battery voltage.

Battery space is absolutely atrocious, and comes with so much wiring that precludes you from fitting anything but the smallest of batteries (SA sells a 600mah battery specific for this form factor). You absolutely need an extension on the battery buffer tube and even then the fitment of batteries are relegated to 1000mah 11.4/7.4v - which can be 3d printed or acquired elsewhere. Go for the absolute largest extension you can get. The wires are solid core copper, so bending will eventually cause fatigue and failure. The form factor of the buffer tube means you will be changing the bending rather frequently so this is a serious concern to me (turning the buffer tube to remove batteries causes the wires to get tugged and get tension to twist them). If nothing else, if you have a soldering kit, you can fix the long wires with something that takes up less precious volume.

With a better stock motor and a less tiny buffer tube, the edge 2.0 X01 from Specna Arms would be solid for the 280 I bought it at. Unfortunately higher pricing makes it somewhat mediocre of a platform to build on alongside more or less needing either a niche battery format or more cost for a bigger buffer tube. That said, having a gate aster out the bat is arguably the *largest* selling point, and gives you a good upgrade path, but the stock components aren't going to extract much of its maximum capability.

All in all, it's a fine replica, and dang good looking, just maybe not for the cost it's being sold at - though it does come with two ARP-styled magazines, which are expensive in of themselves and helps compensate the cost slightly. The foregrip also helps as well.

I wish Evike sold the X02 (8inch mlok model) in black as well, not tan - I probably would have picked up that version if I could of as I like its aesthetic more.
