"The XM177 is the ultimate in the lineage of Colt carbines for me. Thin handguard, smooth grip, simple rear sight and early stock. Fits and feels much better than M4. Everything is just enough and as should be, back to basic, no superfluous gizmo of the later M4 models. Which means it's a very lightweight package.

In term of accuracy, the shiny black plastic is spot on. No bayonet lug, no brass deflector, square cut pivot, and pre-A2 reinforced lower receiver. All correct! G&P really shows their knowledge, a thing that other brands just simply do not care enough. It would be nicer, however, if it comes with XM177 markings and a 20-rounder. But that's just nitpicking, as irl some XM177s did use A1 receiver and 30-rounder when that became standard anyway.

The orange tip could be a pain to get off if you don't have the tools. It's secured by a cross pin. So you would either have to cut the plastic off, or jam a metal punch into the pin and yank it back out, in hope that it would also take the pin out with it. Then it's just a simple 3 minute bath in boiling water to melt the glue.
