The AR as a compact platform, has always felt like an amalgamation of ad hoc fixes rather than a dedicated system of components designed from the ground up to work in harmony with the shooter. Once again, Strike Industries has the solution: the Pit Stock system.

The Pit Stock is designed to work in concert with the Advanced Receiver extension. By interfacing with the keyed receiver extension, the additional points of contact results in a fitted feel and rattle free, rock solid lock up. Despite the additional strength, the minimalist design weighs only 4 oz.

In this case, minimalist does not mean feature free. The stock can be adjusted out to three positions to create a more custom fit for the shooter. Ambidextrous QD swivels are built in for a strong, integrated solution. The orbital stock shape, introduced with the PDW, creates an ergonomic, secure shoulder weld, even in the unorthodox shooting positions characteristic of vehicle born, or extreme close quarters conditions the form factor is designed to dominate.

Pair with the upcoming Enhanced Pistol Grip (PDW angle) for the ultimate ultra-compact, yet ergonomic, AR15.

"Only fits Strike Industries buffer tubes. This stock is awesome, and very compact.

"Like another review said, this product is only meant for the Strike Industries buffer tube.

The reason why is this has rails that interact with the grooves in their buffer tube not found on most other tubes. You can kind of see it in the picture that shows the rear view.

However, you can grind out the rails and it will fit on other buffer tubes. I did it for a shotgun build since most other stocks will cover up the gas fill valve. I then added some electrical tape to tighten it up.

One thing to note is that the position is slightly off on other tubes. The tube will stick out a bit and isn't flush with the stock. The little metal piece on the end is supposed to be a stopper preventing the stock from going too far forward but it doesn't match up on non Strike Industries tubes and the actual adjustment positions on other tubes don't line up right.

Still, it's close enough for me to work properly. I just needed a shorter than normal stock and after some work this works just fine.

SI probably made the rail and groove system to give extra stability for the stock since it's so short but I wish they made a design that worked for all buffer tubes without modification.
