The Mk48 is a 7.62x51mm medium machine gun designed and produced by Fabrique Nationale in conjunction with the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Intended to replace the M60 series of machine guns as a bridge between the M249/Mk46 series of 5.56x45mm light machine guns and the M240 series of 7.62x51mm medium machine guns, it successfully entered service with special operations during the early days of Operation Iraqi Freedom and has continued to be used by units such as the US Navy Seals, the 75th Ranger Regiment, and Army Special Forces "Green Berets".

"Since no website has the true specs of this gun I will list them.
Gearbox-A&K 249 stock gearbox
Barrel length-469mm
Weight-22 pounds unloaded

The gun itself feels solid. But the fact that the gearbox isn’t full metal is pretty disappointing. Especially after lambda defense marketed the gun having full metal internals. The battery space is typical on mk46’s. You can only fit stick type batteries under the barrel. The major weakness of the gun is the quality control on the cylinder inside the gearbox. I’ve spoken to 7 other people who own a mk48 and 5 of them had to replace the stock cylinder.The shining quality of the gun is the hopup. On every A&K machine gun the hopups are straight trash and can only be improved by upgrading to a bullgear hopup unit. The mk48 comes with the bullgear style hopup stock. The box mag is very sturdy and gives a satisfying click when you insert it. Overall if you are considering purchasing this gun I would also purchase an all metal piston, and a new cylinder. After you work out it’s problems it’s a beast of a gun.
