"I’m very happy with the CYMA Platinum CM.098 SR-25 7.62.

The external build is strong — full metal with durable polymer where it makes sense — and the internals use nice metal components that are reliable and easy to find replacements for if needed. Out-of-the-box performance is right in line with standard AEG joule levels, making it field-ready with no major tweaks.

One great feature is the quick-change spring system built into the stock, which lets you adjust FPS if your field has different limits. That kind of flexibility really adds to the overall value. The QD sling attachment points on the fixed stock are another excellent touch, making setup simple. The battery compartment is a little cramped and can be a frustration to fish the batteries out when needed, but it’s still better than many other replicas I’ve worked with.

I have a personal wish for better packaging — it comes in a cardboard box. I honestly would be willing to pay a bit extra if it shipped in a proper hard case for storage and transport.

As for upgrades, it’s a versatile platform: easy to service with available replacement parts, and it could even be converted to an HPA setup (such as a PolarStar Kythera) if you want top-tier consistency and tunability.

• Ships in cardboard — would gladly pay more for a hard case

I will start by saying this is probably the most exceptional value for your money out of any airsoft gun on the market. I managed to get my friend to get one as well and he LOVES it right out of the box. I ended up putting a brushless motor, a Perun Hybrid, and a better barrel and hop setup.

The stock hop will handle anything up to about .36's at full tilt and the stock compression is easily hitting 1.85J on 0.4's with the hop set appropriately.

Pros
Build quality is A1
gun runs smooth out of the box, shimming is okay and better than most.
Comes with a 6.03 510mm tightbore
Gun uses universal V2.5 components (unlike some other SR-25's on the market)
ETU is simplistic, but serviceable and reliable despite what used to be said about them.
QBS spring change system is the best on the market
Motor is torquey and strong.

Cons
compression is not exactly super consistent I have a 0.2J /- variance out of the box. Likely due to the nozzle not making the greatest seal. Still, this could be far worse
ETU isn't programmable but it is not proprietary so you can switch it out with a GATE or Perun with very minimal modification (I had to shave down a pin to get the perun hybrid in, took 5 minutes).
Spring is twangy (put some grease on it)

If you are on the fence between this and any other SR-25 I cannot stress how good of a deal this is right out of the box. It punches well above it's weight class and is also very easily modified to boot. This is the kind of gun that if you invest in when you first start getting serious about airsoft you will never need to get a new gun unless you get bored of it. I cannot recommend this enough.
