"First off, I don't consider this a sidearm.
It's tough to use as a sidearm. Not sure what kind of holster I'd use for it, since I don't think it'd fit a real steel M712 stock, and I don't want to find out since they are about $150.
While my CO2 KWC M1911 is my favorite sidearm and has the hardest kick of my guns, the M712 is probably most satisfying airsoft gun I own to use in a match, being a full auto GBB.
The fps is advertised as 460, but the gram they measured it with is unspecified. I haven't had a chance to chrono it myself, but luckily I don't play at official fields so I don't have a hard fps limit. I imagine only outdoor fields would allow it.
However I haven't had any complaints of pain from the group I play with, 400 FPS AEG's seem more painful.
----
Anyways, it has good range and accuracy for a pistol size weapon. With a high fire rate the ammo runs out in a few seconds of full auto, the gas seems to last about 4 mags though. Definitely get at least one spare mag if you plan to use this.
I won a free-for-all against four others using this, 3 of them had full auto AEGs. This has a much faster fire rate than the average AEG, which definitely helps it be competitive. I recommend firing in bursts because of the low mag capacity.
---
In closing, the only thing I'd change is I wish there was higher capacity mags(Perhaps a 40 round mag, which was a rare mag available for the real steel version).
When I do use it in a match, I have to reload very often.
Everything else about it is amazing to me, although for other people the high FPS may hinder them from using it in a official field.

"Its a great gun, completely metal, co2 power is ok, but dont use full auto too much because it really drains it. The barrel wobble can be fixed by tightening the hex screw under the barrel.

"Great gun for the price with the weight and everything. CO2 doesn't last long in full auto though and don't be scared by the barrel wobble it doesn't affect the performance of the gun and it's very minor.

"Let me say I got this for Christmas and... I freakin love this gun! The slide moves back so fast I didn't expect it! The full auto rate of fire is so imcredibly fast oh my lord it's beautiful! I only have two real issues, one being that even with .25g BB's the BB's fly up after about 30 ish feet which is about pistol range so that's kind of fine. The second thing is that the slide doesn't lock back when it's out of bb's, which could lead to some dry firing.
Pros:
-insane rate of fire
-420 FPS with .25g BB's
-Full metal
-22 rounds
-Co2 lasts mags
Cons
-Slide doesn't lock
-With .25g's the BB's still fly up
-You don't have it yet

"Let me just say I got this for Christmas and... I freakin love this thing! When I shot it I couldn't believe how fast the slide blew back! Then the full auto oh my lord the fire rate is insanity. I only had two issues with this piece, the first being that even with .25g BB's the fly straight up after about 30 feet which is about pkstol range but it's annoying. The second issue is that the slide doesn't lock back when you're out which could lead to a couple dry fires which are bad for the gun.
Pros:
-Full metal
-FULL AUTO (crazy rate of fire.)
-Easy taking apart
-420 FPS with .25g
Cons:
-Slide does not lock back
-No adjustable Hop-up
-YOU DON'T HAVE ONE

"Just got this gun today, and I'll just say right now that this thing is an absolute beast. The thing has one of the highest fire rates I've ever seen.
Pros:
Highly accurate
Full metal
Blowback action
High power (bad for indoor matches)
Weight (while many are saying the weight is a disadvantage, it actually makes the gun harder to jerk around which will make it easier to aim)
Stock threading
Elevation adjustable sights
Gas efficiency
Thumb safety switch on the top-back side of the gun
Cons:
Plastic grips
Magazine prices
Expensive, difficult to find holsters
Fire selector is a little bit difficult to use
Too hot for indoors
Overall this an absolutely amazing piece. I'd recommend it for men 14-16 years old and olderand women over 16 due to its weight. It's a little bit heavy for the kids.

"Got this gun yesterday. After loading it and firing a couple shots in both semi and full auto, I can honestly say this is the most fun I have had shooting an airsoft gun. The kick is minimal in semi, but is noticeable in full auto.
Pros:
Feels authentic.
Magazine capacity. 22 rounds is a lot
Accuracy. From about 5 meters, it is very accurate shooting with one hand.
Fun as *heck* to shoot
Stock attachement slide is built in. (Probably gonna make my own)
Cons:
Heavy. This piece is around 3 pounds.
Too hot for cqb
Doesn't come with CO2 in box. (Walmart sells a box of 15 cartridges for $7)
Grip is plastic.
Overall, this gun is fantastic. Worth every penny. The cons are all able to work around and I only put them there to nitpick. Whether you are into reanactments or just want an eye-catching gun, this is absolutely a good choice.

"Easily my new favorite airsoft pistol. At first its heavy its ugly the mags are heavy they are big and on full auto it eats BBs like no other. However after extreme modifications you can turn this into a DL-44 ( Han Solo Blaster!!) Now I have a damn near one of a kind pistol and its very possibly the coolest airsoft pistol ever built when the DL-44 kit is put on of course.
PROS:
great range 60 yards with valken .30s
FULL auto
can be converted to a DL-44
shoots around 420 could be a con depending on where you play.
CONS
heavy
mags are heavy
internally could be built better
did I mention it was heavy?
I used the Dark Energys Creations kit to mod it into Han Solo blaster.

"This gun is amazing. Has a very nice feeling and is very realistic. I would recommend this to most people, but not really young kids due to the weight. The only con that I have about this gun is that it blows right thew co2.. Not a big deal, but can be for some. I am thinking about doing an hpa conversion so I will not have to worry about that. Overall 5 out of 5 on this one.

"Absolutely fantastic gun, converted mine into a working DL-44 variant.
shoots hard, fast, and on target. the magazines are a little expensive.... however, this gun is worth it. my only real issue with it is that there is only a single size magazine. would be nice if there was a short, and extended on top of the standard size. it is heavy, so if you lack upper body strength, not for you. if you do have upper body strength, of any kind, its not an issue.
and if it shoots too hard for you, and you dont want to get shot.... well.... shoot first.

"I’ve had this gun for 3 years now, most of the paint is worn off around common wear areas to include the entire mag well showing off it’s heavy pot metal body. This is an air gun that happens to be chambered for 6mm bbs. It shoots hot and should be treated with respect for those on the receiving end.
It’s not fancy, no bolt hold open, thick plastic grips and a finish that wears easily. But what do you get for that? It’s accurate even at range. With a single co2 cartridge you can just about get through 2-1/2 mags in semi and 1-1/4 in full auto.
Full auto… an amazing experience with any gas gun. This one is no exception. Empties your magazine in about 2 seconds venting most of your gas out the chamber in between shots. Big clouds of gas and bbs spraying like a garden hose.
Compared to other m712 on the market it is very heavy. A pound heavier.
The sights leave something to be desired and there are no holsters on the market for this pistol with the exception of the large wooden stock holsters which this gun has the slot to attack the stock but is missing the indent that it would click into so you can’t really use it even if you go out of your way to get one.
Hop up is the smallest hex key on the top of the barrel amd works ok. The outer barrel is held in place only by a hex key set screw and wears down the surrounding metal quite fast leaving a sloppy wobbly mess. solution is to glue the barrel in place. Never had a problem with feeding or leaky mags. Pretty decent pistol
