The STX-60 features a "curved point," but unlike conventional curved hooks, it's designed to sit closer to a straight point, which helps improve hook-up rates. The curved point penetrates deeply once it starts to set and offers a more reliable hook hold, though it can slide more easily in the fish's mouth and be harder to initiate penetration.

To counter this, the STX-60 is designed with a wider gape to further increase hook-up rates. It also uses a "short taper," making the tapered section thicker and stronger. While a thicker taper is typically harder to penetrate, the STX-60 incorporates a small under-barb to maintain smooth penetration.
