"This is my first AEG, and I went with this model because the price was pretty good for being all metal outside. Plan is to upgrade as parts wear out or break and end up with a pretty nice set up eventually. Mine shipped with a set of plastic flip up sights that are ok, and will work in a pinch. I had already ordered a red dot since I thought it would have no sights in the box. Now, I have backups if the need arises. It also came with a stubby vertical grip, not the long one pictured. I was planning on getting a stubby grip eventually, but the one included locks down pretty tightly despite being a free piece of box candy. I want to go with a more ergonomic grip down the road, but until I do this one will be just fine.
upon initial unboxing, the keymod rail had a slight wiggle, but locking it down only took a snugging up of the bolts and its rock solid. The stock is stable and once i put a bit of electrical tape around the faux-bolt-catch-release there's no noise or loose part sound when the rifle is shaken around.
I disassembled the gearbox cleaned and lubed everything first thing. It was pretty dry in there with just a few dabs of hard crusty "lube". So, I would suggest a good clean up and lubification pretty quickly. If you are new like me (only smarter than I am, because I did it my self, Thanks youtube) take it to a reliable tech or friend who you know can do the job.
I think a Prowin hop up with a flat nub and tighter inner barrel will be the first things I upgrade, despite the pretty good out of the box accuracy I am getting at ~25yards being fairly consistent. I am getting about 1 in 5 shots that hook off (just a little bit, should still hit a torso if aiming center mass. However, I am unable to test fire at longer distances and I'm sure farther out the hooks will be more exaggerated. Over all the accuracy with bone stock parts is really nice for the price. (that rhymes, it must be true)
Mine came with a nice hexmag mid cap, I ordered several extra on the recommendation of another reviewer, and they all fit perfectly. I have no complaints from these mags with this AEG. I'm not getting any undue slop in the well, and mags are easy to swap out in a hurry. It's just all around warm fuzzies for me so far with this combination. Now, being that this is my first AEG M4 I only have the hexmags to try. I know they work in this application, so I'm sticking with them.
I have no Crono at the house, so I can't yet speak on the FPS.
Cons: I knew when I ordered that the battery sitch was going to be a... pain in the... neck, But I was initially thinking that at this price point the stock would be so sloppy that Id be getting a full stock with a huge battery compartment to replace it with. Turns out the stock is rock solid, so I may not be doing that. I'm a little worried that when I add a mosfet that I may get limited to 1000MaH batteries, and I hope that I dont spend all of my time charging up spare batteries.
Other than that (which I was fully anticipating, I'm just looking for something to complain about) I'm happy.
If you are looking for a perfectly performing AEG out of the box, that will make you a god on any airsoft field. This may not be the AEG you are looking for. Though none anywhere near this price point will either. If you are like me, and want something inexpensive, but sturdy enough to grow and upgrade as your needs and skills do, this might be the one for you.
