"After buying this and installing in my Fa-mas, that FPS went from 318 to 354, really great barrel, grouping, accuracy and range all increased. This is coming from a gun that had all these thing out of the box. I did have to shave the inside of the hop-up thought because that barrel + bucking was too tight of a fit for the hop-up unit.
"Pretty interesting barrel. Not sure if the plastic insert is doing much but accuracy seemed fine. I got it to try and lower the fps of the DAS-15 CQB version from GBLS. FPS went from 375 (.25g) to 265 with the 260mm length barrel. I will most likely try a less extreme widebore to bring my fps back up.
There are two minor gripes I have with the barrel.
1. The sticker. The barrel comes with logo sticker that appears in the product pictures. I didn't like it because the sticker didn't want to come off easily.
2. No ridge for buckings. Usually I have seen a little indentation on the barrel that a bucking will fill so the bucking can't rotate. This barrel didn't have it.
"I bought the Delta Strike barrel just to see how it would perform. Traditionally, I was under the impression that the only good way to increase range and accuracy in an AEG was with the use of tight bore barrels. So, when I saw that Prometheus had come out with a wide bore barrel, I was skeptical as to how it would work.
Out of the package, the barrel and bucking look really nice. The inner bore was very smooth with no wavy spots or anything. The plastic part of the barrel looked like it might be flimsy, but I haven't had any issues with it yet. The bucking is a Prommy flat bucking. I should note that the hop-up window on the barrel is absolutely massive, so one of Prommy's flat nubs should be used with this as well.
Testing gun was a JG SR-25 with a non-ported cylinder and an m140 spring. Installation was easy. Before, with the stock barrel, the gun was pushing about 450fps with .20s, and was accurate to about 200 feet max.
Performance with the Delta strike barrel: accurate to about 250 feet. Consistency is absolute incredible. With no cross wind the bbs go to the same spot every single time. Unfortunately, due to the wide-bore design, FPS dropped considerably. The gun chrono'd at 360 fps with .2s. I honestly don't think the air volume from a standard full cylinder is enough for a 509mm wide bore. But, even though the gun chrono'd so low, I was still out ranging 400fps guns.
Pros:
Price. Inexpensive all things considered, especially for a Prometheus barrel. Plus, it comes with the bucking.
Range. Out ranges other guns that shoot faster.
Consistency/accuracy. Follow-up shots go exactly where you want them to.
FPS drop (also a con).
Cons:
Only con for me was the drop in FPS (kind of a pro, too, but i'll get to that). After the 250ft mark, the bbs (Elite Force .25s) just kinda lose all their energy and drop out of the sky. With the hop up dialed in, they flew straight as an arrow though. .30s were simply too heavy.
I meant my SR25 build to be more a DMR type set up, but since the gun only chrono's at 360 fps but maintains really good range. So, as a result, I've got a gun that I can use at just about any field, but out range almost every other gun save for high-powered snipers and DMRs. I totally recommend this barrel, but it would probably be put to its full potential with an extended cylinder gun or a bore up kit.
