"I got this for my Socom Gear Licensed Les Baer Custom 1911 by KJW
This holster is amazing, and being my first Safariland, I will definitely be buying more.
I've always seen Safariland as unobtanium because of the price tag, but this holster comes in at a competitive, entry level price, that I felt comfortable buying, worth every penny.
Just because it's much cheaper than other Safariland holsters, does not mean that it lacks any features that we enjoy.
Pros:
Felt lined, I believe it's durable felt or suede that lines the inside of this holster, reduces wear on your pistol, nice touch.
Great retention, even though it's ALS, level 1, you cannot force a gun out of it, even though it may shift up and down slightly, its locked in. Easily comes out when you depress the thumb button.
Durable material, has shown virtually no signs of wear after countless holstering, multiple game days, crawling, laying down, room clearing, etc.
Covers the entire gun, from the manual safety, forward. The end of the holster, by the muzzle, it is open, but tapers down somewhat, still big enough to accomodate a threaded barrel. This holster is not compatible with suppressors, or tracers that are wider than the slide AT ALL. Compensators or long slides could fit with modification.
Compatible with Safariland holster mounts!!
Note: will not fit EF 1911 the rail is too wide to fit in, modification to the gun would be needed. not a big deal tbh as no one should buy that gun to begin with
Cons:
not a real con, at all but
My pistol has an ambidextrous extended safety, and it must have been just a mm too long. While I could insert the gun, I had to ensure it clicked into place. This was easily remedied by taking a razor (or file) and removing the slightest bit of material so the safety did not rub the holster, I ensured it was just enough that I could disengage it, while in the holster.
nothing else
buy this, 11/5 stars
"I bought this holster for my KJW 1911 Hi-CAPA after reading a few forums discussing Hi-CAPA holsters. It seems there aren't any hardshell holsters designed specifically for my KJW (If there are I can't find them), but I heard the Safariland brand was easy enough to modify. I have no problems with the design of the original holster, it works perfectly with compatible pistols. I also had very little to change to make it work with my KJW. I removed the upper iron sight clip in the holster and cut a small section out of the side to allow room for the mag release button. Simple as that; works like a charm now. The draw is still a little bit tight, but it serves my purposes. I also bought the MOLLE attachment and would highly recommend that as well.
Pros:
-Tough "SafariLaminte" plastic. Very good material, difficult to scratch.
-Good locking mechanism. Friend tried a 1911 Tac. before I modified it.
-Comes with plenty of screws, all in variable sizes. Good customization.
-Modifiable
Cons:
-None as of right now
Overall a great purchase. Would recommend to everyone, has a better price than most other hardshell holsters.
