Helix Airsoft Trident Micro Mock Suppressor / Barrel Extension (Color: Multicam / 14mm Negative)

"I bought one of these when I lived in MN and was surprised to see them on here since I was told the guy wasn't making them anymore, but in case that was wrong I figured I'd write a review.

I have the copper/bronze version, which I bought to out on my HK416A5 since it somewhat matches the tan/brown theme. It's not a perfect color match, but it is similar to the color of the buffer tube, though darker and shinier. I did see a guy with a desert tan Olight that was pretty close that I might pick up eventually. Overall the photos of all of them are pretty close to what you're going to get, so if you're wondering how accurate the pictures are, worry not. But I digress.

Quality is first and foremost pretty good. The guy makes (made?) them in small batches as a side gig from what I was told, and you can tell: this is not just another Chinese low quality product that some factory is churning out like butter. He clearly takes pride in his work. The ones I saw at the retailer all had the same amazing craftsmanship that mine had. If I hadn't grown tired of Osprey style suppressors, I'd have bought another. It's a shame that he didn't make regular cylindrical style ones as far as I'm aware.

One gripe is that the threading is only 14mm negative. There are adapters, yes, but it would have been cool if he made a small batch of 14mm positive ones. Not a huge issue for most people however. The included Orings make tightening it to fit perfectly lined up is nice. It mostly eliminates the need for a grub screw to secure it in place, though I wouldn't have complained if that was an option. Due to the recessed threading, it likely wasn't possible, and this does make it a bit sleeker which is nice.

My biggest complaint is how the thing lacks versatility. Unfortunately, while it is really stylish, it is really only good for hiding a barrel extension, since it is too thin to fit a tracer unit inside of it. I'm also not sure if you can easily open it up to fill it with foam since I don't feel like scuffing mine up with pliers. Luckily there are hopup units with tracers in them, but not for every gun.

Also as a side note, I've not tested this on handguns but I have a feeling that it is heavy enough to cause issues with weighing the outer barrel down too much, even with the short variant. It seems Evike only has the short ones, but he did make longer ones as well.

Overall the quality is great, color choice (for me anyways) was pretty great, and it is really solid--the end caps are on very tight and it seems to actually be a single body piece despite the lines that suggest otherwise. I give it 4/5 because of the amazing quality, knocking off a point since it can't fit a tracer unit inside of it that I know of and since it's a bit expensive for just a mock suppressor. Hopefully there will be more in the future and if I'm lucky he'll make them capable of holding tracers, and maybe make some that are cylindrical. And yeah, if you like the kind of "50 shades of FDE" that the HK416A5 has, the FDE one will look great on it.

"Neat little suppressor, its good quality and made from metal. Had no need for an tracer unit and I can say this is the best quality you can get without an tracer unit.

Pros:
Top quality.
Better osprey style, not entirely but something different from the usual tube suppressors.
Perfect for an unique look.

Cons:
Quite expensive for just an mock suppressor.
