Designed in the early 1900's the Arisaka Type 44 rifle was a carbine designed for Imperial Japanese cavalrymen. With a unique pivoting bayonet, the Imperial Japanese designers designed the bayonet mount in a way that it would never touch the barrel itself, as it would affect accuracy negatively.
