"I've only fielded my KJW Full Metal Custom 1911 Tactical HI-CAPA for one game and mainly use it left handed as my left index finger can both trip the slide catch and mag release better then my right hand can and usually my right hand is still keeping positive control of my primary weapon.

Before i bought this there was no way i could trip the slide catch and release the slide forward without changing my grip on the pistol. 8 bucks enabled me to use my sidearm with either hand. It's full metal, takes less then a few seconds to install and is worth every penny.

Personally i think these things should come standard on every 1911 but for 8 dollars it's an inexpensive and VERY useful modification

"Fits on normal WE 1911, but since it was made for double stack magazine in the Hi-capa. The Extended slide release will not catch the single stack style magazine that the normal 1911 has when the magazine is emptied. Otherwise, it works as a pin for a normal 1911.

"Fits on a KJW 1911 HiCapa. I did have an issue where inserting a mag would push the release out of the gun just enough to where the slide would not move rearward. I solved the problem by sanding some material off of the slide where it makes contact with the magazine until it allowed the slide to operate while still functioning. That's airsoft though, not everything will be a perfect fit. This thing is a MUST.

"This is a great upgrade for your Hicapa considering the price. I installed it onto my WE T-REX and it performed well enough. With it installed I could release the slide one handed!

For some reason it would'nt work for one of my mags. Even though the mag was empty, the slide wouldn't lock in place once racked. Might be a duds but for 6.80 it's acceptable.

"Fits great, looks nice & is real easy to disengage when the slide is caught. However, I say 3/5 because for me it doesn't perform its main function, which is above all. I installed this piece on my WE Tech Caspian 1911 and discovered that the area responsible for making contact with the magazine follower (Part #78) is too thin. It is half the thickness of the original part. This lack of depth does not allow the slide release to be pushed up by the magazine follower to catch the slide when the magazine is empty. I have had the same issue with the Double Bell variant of this part. This could be my bad luck with defective parts or just an issue with this particular 1911 model (which is almost a decade old by now) and aftermarket parts. On the bright side, I believe it is an easy fix. Since the magazine follower spring does not provide much stress on the slide release, or more specifically the area where the two parts meet, the proper adhesive and a bit of sheet metal (or other material) should get the job done!

"Pros:
-This slide lock looks and feels great.
-Really does make reloading easier.

Cons:
-Black finish comes of rather easily.
-My particular unit often prevents the slide from locking back on an empty mag. I have tested this on a three different WE Hi-Capa models and my KJW KP-05 and have had the same problem with all of them. Not sure why this causes that to happen, but maybe it will go away with use. It is an occasional problem, but happens often.

"I got this for my KJW Hi Capa.

Compared to the stock slide release , this one is VERY flimsy. Don't force it in or you'll easily bend it.

When It first went in, it wasn't actually catching the slide, but with a bit of adjustments to the placement it started working. There is already a chunk of the flimsy piece of metal missing. It kind of worries me, but I'll have to deal with it I suppose.

It works GREAT in terms of not having to change your grip to actually reach it with your thumb, so there's that. I just wish they made it with harder metal. You can physically bend it if you really wanted to.
