EDGE is a completely new line of AEG carbines in the Specna Arms family, designed to meet expectations of even the most demanding players. Manufactured under license of Rock River Arms, a well recognized American real firearms manufacturer takes Specna Arms brand to a higher level of realism and performance.
The heart of the EDGE models is brand new ORION Gearbox. It is based on the and equipped with a main spring release function. Straight from the box it has a number of high-quality parts improving the performance and is ready for further tuning.
Specna Arms EDGE carbines are equipped with the new type of the rotary Hop which results in very precise and stable adjustment of BBs overlocking.
Specna Arms EDGE carbines have a built-in MOSFET X-ASR system provided by GATE! This is a unique cooperation between the Polish manufacturer and the well-known airsoft guns manufacturers. The highest quality MOSFET X-ASR unit will ensure the safety of the components, increase the trigger response and extend the life of the electronics and battery.
EDGE line like the rest of Specna Arms series is equipped with a functional quick spring change system, that enables you to quickly adjust the muzzle velocity without the use of specialized tools and with no need of removing the Gearbox from the body.
Every element of the replica had been made and fitted with the utmost care for every detail. In addition, the body features a Nano Coating finish that prevents scratches. The body also bears deeply engraved Rock River Arms markings as well as an individual serial number further authenticated by an additional hologram. Price paid $239 USD
Cozy little replica. Shoots ~300fps w/ .32 out of the box (roughly 1.32 joule), rate of fire is roughly 20-21RPS with an 11.1 Li-Ion 3000mah 16c Titan Battery. Accuracy is good as the replica is meant for short range, probably 125 feet or less. You can hit targets further than that but the intended purpose of this is obviously CQB based on the size. Hop up is easy to access and adjust, and holds during shooting. Gate X ASR works fine and doesn't heat up to repeated shots on semi.
Internally, everything was great. The Bevel and Spur gear needed some additional shims as they had 0.5mm of play. The only negative about the internals is that the spring guide is cheap plastic, but that shouldn't have any bearing on longevity or performance. Motor height needed adjustment by about 1mm pushed toward the Bevel gear.
Disassembly is painful, but you should only have to do it once for the reshim/cleaning. There is nothing noteworthy to need upgrading, 20rps is fast enough trigger response. Only meaningful upgrade would probably be Flat hop or Rhop as the stock barrel is already 6.03mm. For something that costs $239, it is probably the best value out of the box replica there is. "I dont think this is fair..lol I bought this gun Saturday for 259 dollars.. 3 days later its on sale for 207...they haven't even shipped it to me yet.. why cat you let me have the gun for 207 and let me put the extra towards parts.. I don't have a complaint.. just don't see why if it hasn't left the warehouse yet why can't I get it at sale price.cant wait for my rock river.. im so excited..thank yall . "This is my second AEG and I've had it for about 4 months at the time of writing. I can say without a doubt this is worth every cent and I 100% recommend it.
Shoots pretty fast for a stock gun (w/ 11.1V Lipo)
Relatively easy to swap the spring
Not too heavy or too light
Feels and looks amazing
Includes a stubby foregrip and two mid-caps
Gun came broken but was quickly repaired for free by Evike.
Gearbox sometimes locks up if you fire in full-auto and then switch to semi-auto quickly (super easy to fix)
The adjustable stock is a little too wobbly when fully extended
Barely enough room for the battery I bought
The items that were included with mine included the gun (M4 RIS / TAN SA-E03), the GATE X-ASR pre-wired to the gun two mid-cap magazines, an extra M90 spring, a "Quality Certificate" from Specna Arms, a Gate X-ASR troubleshooting card, a stubby foregrip, two rail covers, and a Specna Arms EDGE catalog.
I am running it with the included mid-caps, a "Matrix High Performance 11.1V Stick Type Airsoft LiPo Battery (Configuration: 1000mAh / 20C / Deans & Short Wire)", and .23g Matrix bio-bbs.
To begin with, the gun I received was almost completely non-functional (despite Specna Arm's "Quality Certificate" stating it passed with flying colors). Upon taking the gun out of its box the inner barrel fell out and I tried putting it back in myself, but to no avail. After hours of troubleshooting, I decided to request an RMA from Evike. They got back to me in under two days, and I requested a replacement or repair. The gun was repaired by Evike and returned within a week of the RMA request.
Now that the gun was functional, I could not have been happier. I first broke in the included mid-caps by loading and unloading them about a dozen times apiece before testing them in my gun. They work flawlessly; one uses all 120 rounds 99% of the time and the other leaves about 1 or 2 left. The gun itself is simply amazing. It manages somewhere around 14 RPS on full-auto and the semi-auto is super responsive, both averaging the advertised 380 FPS. I've got the hop-up tuned to hit a 10" target at 75 feet with ease, all while shooting super flat. The gun is light enough to not be a pain to carry without a sling, but heavy enough to not feel cheap. The upper and lower receivers and the buffer tube is metal, but everything else is a pretty tough polymer. Four months later and it's still just as amazing.
As for the cons, they didn't bug me all that much. The week wait-time for the gun repair was well worth the wait for me. The gearbox has an issue where it'll completely lock up if you go from shooting full auto to semi quickly, but it's easy to avoid and fix. Simply swap it to safe for a few seconds then to semi-auto, shoot once or twice, and full auto should work again. It doesn't really bug me since I mostly use semi-auto. The buffer tube is standard sized, but I bought a stick battery that was a little chonky which was worsened by the added length of the MOSFET. More of a mistake on my end, but I would imagine many might not be able to use already owned batteries. The wobbly stock is a pretty common bug on these stocks, but my stock seems to have it worse. It doesn't bug me too much, so I haven't really tried to fix it.
All in all, I was pretty disappointed to receive the gun in a non-functional state, but Evike more than made up for that with the quick response and repair time. The gun is a blast to use, it's easy to operate, durable, and its bugs are easy to work around or fix. Would suggest to newer and experience players, although it might be better for brand new players to go with the CORE series of these guns. Read More Reviews Write a Review
