G&P Navy M63A1 Airsoft SAW Machine Gun AEG w/ Box Magazine (Model: Ver2 / Add Battery + Charger)

"Got this in today so I'll do a quick out of the box review (full review after fielding this weekend). For those who don't know, this is the RIS version of the MK 23 that G&P makes, identical in almost every respect with the exception of the hand guard (the Mk 23/Mk 23 weathered G&P offerings use a polymer hand guard with fake charging handle). Here's the catch. This was listed (not discounted) at $400.00. The Mk 23 offerings are usually $450 on Evike. The M63A1 RIS system is sold separately for $100 on Evike. So you are getting a $550.00 value for $400.00. It's a no brainer.

This is my third G&P Mk 23 I've owned. They have all shot 402-405 FPS directly out of the box with .20g Valken non bio BBs. I use a Matrix 5000 mAh 9.6V NiMH battery for each of these, as the full stock gives you just enough room to fit it in. With that battery, you can expect 17 RPS or so. Accuracy with the stock 440mm barrel is adequate, as you're generally using these to keep the opposition's head down, not pick off people from 200+ feet away. Anything up to and including 150 feet you will hit what you're aiming at.

Having a true semi/auto function (the safety is similar to the M14, as it goes through the trigger guard, just like the original M63) is nice, and even with the 9.6 you get some pretty snappy trigger response.

I will say the only somewhat negative on this platform is the box magazine. For a support weapon, it's small (1200 rounds) and the quality is not the greatest. I've had to fix two of the manual feed buttons (the magazine will feed automatically without issue) on the top of the magazine, and on two of them I've had the latch for the BB feed door break off and drop into the magazine. This will inevitably jam the feeding mechanism at some point. Also, if you can seal up the metal "spring type" feed tube. I've used large diameter shrink wrap and it's worked fine. Basically the feed mechanism is a slinky barely larger than the BB that feeds the BBs up and then drops them down, so you're using gravity to feed the gun. It works, and G&P does a good job with the protective cover on the magazine frame itself, but it's something that I've experienced in the past.

To sum it up - great gun, rails on the hand guard for grips (highly suggested) or other stuff, as well as a rail section on top of the feed tray for optics. Also comes with a 14mm positive black metal flash hider to replace the orange one like all G&P replicas have.
