KJ Works Full Metal M4 RIS Airsoft GBB Gas Blowback Rifle

10 Customer Reviews

by Alexander M. on 10/13/2022
"Phenomenal weight, weighs more than my buddies real steel M&P 15. The gas blowback is very fun; has a nice kick, very good on gas conservation. Definitely quite a bit you can do to this rifle as well. Mostly external is what ive found but thats fine by me. Probably one of the best starter rifles for the $$

"The KJ Works M4 RIS is an extremely solid gun. The price that it commands justifies not only its cosmetic appearance but the astounding quality of its performance. KJ Works has built one of, if not the finest M4 GBBRs in the market. The "Training Gun" title is also deserved as all moving parts function in the same way as its real life counterpart, as well as the nice kick it provides. The look and feel of this gun is unprecedented. Out of the box, it practically requires no upgrades.
This is a gun that I have brought twice which is a testament to its performance and presentation.

"I received mine about a week ago and have shot it every day since. It hasn't given me a bit of trouble Yet...

Then again, I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to maintenance and preventive care. The very first thing I did, (and do after every shoot) is break it down and apply a very liberal coat of Teflon penetrating oil I got from my local hardware store. I ordered the metal flash suppressor, some Green Gas, and some of the .28gr. Match grade B.B.'s. My only regret here was not buying another magazine. Reloading DOES take a small bite out of playing time.

As a tactical MA instructor, I bought this as a low cost training aid for use in some of my weapons familiarity/weapons defense classes. The realistic weight, feel, look, and operation of the KJ Works Full Metal M4 RIS Airsoft GBB Rifle was the main set of selling points for me. And in this area it has met or exceeded all expectations.

Like I said, it hasn't given me any trouble "yet." Hence the very positive review. It's not that I "expect" there to be any, but the gun really demonstrates the forces applied to the various parts at any given time, this is evidenced by the decent level of recoil. But it highlights the need for these guns to be of very high quality, and a from a proven and reliable design. As close to the original as likely possible, I'd say the design seems pretty strong and not overly complex.

Accuracy. With the open sights supplied, It only took about 15 minutes to sight it in. And (I kid you not) I hit dead center of the Bulls-Eye at 25" on my very first shot. (I saved the target :)

All in all... These are expensive tools. And they are VERY expensive toys! But for what it's worth, I think mine was definitely worth it. I've gotten kind of a kick out of plinking with it when I'm not too busy answering questions about it after class. (And the "Full-Auto" is a gas!!) :)

"Just received this gun today and so far i love it. I have practically shot all day since its arrival and its been nothing but smooth. great recoil and accuracy. my buddy let me shoot him with full auto from about 15 or 20 yards, looks like he walked through a hornets nest. lol

"Great gun! One of my old buddies used to have one and ive always liked the platform so I always told my friends they should get one if they got a GBBR. Sure enough my step brother got one and now he doesn't regret anything at all except the $40 mags! Lol.

Pros:
Accurate, range, nice kick
efficient on gas
steel feed lips
steel BCG
upper accepts any rails (i think)

Cons:
$40 32rd Mags...Thats all i can complain about but all GBBs are like this

"I got this gun in early January and so far it has had some ups and downs. In my experience, the hopup has been very unreliable and and set my bb's off curving to the right. I've taken it to a local airsoft shop and had it repaired about 3-5 times. The problem kept repeating itself. That said, now it is shooting straight and is easily adjustable. It shoots like a dream, only other issue I've had was that the bolt catch snapped in half. Not a huge deal, I've already got another on the way for only $13 including shipping. A lot cheaper than the WE and KWA from my experience. Not sure if that speaks as to the quality of this part in negative terms, but only time will tell. Maybe my bolt catch was a lemon. Anyways, here's a list of the pros and cons for the tl;dr people.
pros
-Great FPS
-looks really nice
-flip up sights are awesome and have a fiber optic insert
-Excellent gas efficiency
-feels good in the hands. This is hard to explain but it just feels like a good gun when you hold it

cons
-wobbly rail, stock, and receiver
-hop up issues
-bolt catch snapped (again, maybe just a lemon)
-low rof (somewhere in the 600-700 range)
-finding parts for this gun is next to impossible(I could only find parts by contacting KJW directly)

I'm pretty nit-picky about some of these cons, but here's my conclusion. Unless you're a purist, the wobbly rail and stock are a non-issue as you'll probably replace them anyways. As for the receiver wobble, I put a tiny, paper-thin washer in there and now it's rock solid. The hopup issue was annoying but there is an alternative. There's a guy online who will take your upper receiver and drill a hole in the top, put a screw in, and you can adjust your hopup much easier without risk of deviation in the bb flight path. Overall, I really like this gun. I got a nice Centurion Arms rail system on mine as well as some magpul accessories, and a red dot sight. (I wouldn't recommend using a magnified optic as this guns effective range; at least my guns effective range, is only about 180 feet.) Overall, I'm very happy with the gun, and I can't wait to get some more mags. I hope this helped anyone on the fence about whether or not to buy this gun.

"U get what u buy when it comes to this gun. It has great accuracy and range i was using .25 and hit man sized target a good 35 to 50 yards out (however i remend a higher bb cause even with the .25 i get a stray every now and then) but on top of that u get reliablity it was 40 degrees and the gun stil performed awesome i ran the same mag in rapid secession and it shot all 30 rounds and locked back thanks to the ALREADY INSTALLED STEEL BOLT CATCH

Pros
Accuracy
Range
Recoil kicks the same as 22 on full auto u have to try to keep sight picture
Build quality STEEL INTERNALS no need for upgrades
Comes with rail coves, ar rench and has an incredible green front sight post making target accuiring easy

Cons
There is wobble in the stock and ris but it comes with ar rench so u can tighten ris
SLOW rof its maybe 600-650 rpm if that on full auto (the cold could be the cause)

Inthe end just hands down great gun that im happy to own and will recommened to any one wanting a gbb

"for the most part, I'd say the gun is fine, but when it comes to material quality, its a completely different story.
I played a few games with it and went through 6-10 mags. after the game, I put another mag through it just for fun, and the bolt catch snapped off. It still functioned as intended, so I kept using it. I'd say about 2000 rounds later, the left part of the bolt that retains the nozzle broke off, a major piece of the gun. It still kept firing, but with ton of hiccups and double feeds almost every mag. I went out to another game that I had to cut short because when I tried to reload, the charging handle came completely out of the gun. At that point I had had enough; I just threw the thing away. All in all, its really not that bad especially for the price, unless you're thinking of putting thousands of rounds through it; the gun was always properly lubricated, and I never used over pressure gas.
