"Gear box was well designed! Dropped right in ( no modifications needed ).
The stock spring was insane! (Consistent 401 fps!)
The only negative; does not work with all brands of hop up units like pro win ( would not seal up well). I had a spare stock hop up and it sings!
This is my second aps gearbox, one in my main gun and one in my spare gun.

"APS has came a long way to this gearbox, to truly pull them apart from the other Chinese brands in the last few years. This gearbox is not the best in the world but for a stock gearbox it is quite nice. Love the trigger that comes with it and the polished shell reduces power drain decently. Easy to work on with QD spring guide for quick FPS swap is a nice touch. All in all, impressed.

"This is a very high quality gearbox shell is similar in quality to shs Cnc Aluminium with quick change spring ebb but that can be modified piston and cylinder are not the best has the 8 mm German caged bearings not the ones shown in photo which is fine with me I think they are a stronger bearing anyway I completely scraped the internals when I got it I did have to machine the inside of the gearbox to fit a different set of gears pretty easy with a drimel and router guide tungsten carbide cutter bit similar to an end mill style the ebb feature is neat I kept the bolt cover but modified it to remove the ebb feature installed it in an aps comp receiver with working bolt catch that is a really nice feature for adjusting hop up I tried a standard upper and bolt catch lever worked on that as well would recommend aps receiver tho great gear box really impressed

"Had a ton of trouble fitting into my CM16 raider shorty, but with some dremel work, and paired with 6.03 prommy barrel, prommy purple bucking, prommy bridge type nub and prowin hop up flat hopped, that gun turned into a real sleeper. I attribute alot of that to the good compression. Only chrono at 360fps, but that may be due in part to such a short barrel.

"I absolutely love this gearbox. I've been running this gearbox in my asr 115 and it has never failed me! The blowback sounds fantastic and the quick spring change couldn't be more simple. I threw an m130 in the gearbox with stock gears and it is still going strong with little wear what so ever. If you are thinking about getting a new gearbox with lots of upgrade capabilities I would choose this one.

"Rock Solid!

I dropped this GB into a Javelin JM4A1-EBB and although snug, no modifications where necessary. It's almost a shame it's covered by the shell because it looks flawless with it's fully polished and arctic-clean appearance. Trigger response is fantastic and solid. I installed the stock motor back into it and it fires tight with single pull groups on semi, and on auto... this gearbox just roars.

I've only run a 8.4V battery on it, but it's feels great. With the 8 mm bearings, it's smooth as silk with about 1,000 rounds down range. Out of the box, it was basically plug and play, although a little coaxing was required, it fired right up and breathed some new life in an old chassis. I don't have a chrono yet, but it's next on my list.

"I bought this for my mp5 so I had to replace the trigger and selector. This thing run super smooth and relatively reliably, the piston and piston head are kinda junk (I would save on shipping and order one when you get the gearbox). Also the shell has special holes for the gears so you can't change the gear ratio.

"I have had this gearbox for about two weeks now and have only really used a few times. I opened it up and shimmed it and corrected aoe(w/ scatter plot sorbo), cleaned and re greased during the process. I am no pro but I followed guides and videos very well and everything looked great. Reassembled gun and sounded great. After one good day shooting, the piston pick up tooth stripped while doing one long auto bust(probably 20 secs). I was only using a 9.6 nimh.

The piston teeth, and piston head for that matter, are very basic and weak.
Also the cylinder head is plastic w/ a single o ring.

I am sure the gears are good enough for a standard set up like mine but as others stated, high rps or more than a 130 spring and they're gonna break.

8mm bearings should be standard anyway.

The compression was very good once you lube it up. O ring, metal air nozel is nice.

Overall I really like it. And for the price its awesome. I disabled the ebb and did some simple mods and it sounded awesome. Just gonna have to get a descent piston and see what happens from there.

"INB4 TL:DR

Pros:

+ Shell is MUCH stronger than predecessors. Takes an M150 with ease so far. I probably wouldn't take it higher though.
+ Ball Bearings are very good.
+ Quick Change just like the hybrid
+ O-Ring air nozzle OOTB; but I never tested compatibility since this GB went into my Masada.
+ Excellent APS silver wiring and trigger assembly. I love it as it is the thin PTFE wires. Fits in just about anything. Even the contacts are well built. But I run custom 3034 MOSFET's so I cannot say how well they fair for sure.

Nuet:
+ Straight trigger is cool.. I guess. Works just fine for a trigger.
+ I don't like the reinforcements done to the back of the shell. But that's just me.

Cons:
+ Gears are pretty weak. Mine broke in about 5 places doing 40RPS with an M90 (No PME happened.) Replaced them with JG gears and I haven't had a problem since.
+ Spring guide is still plastic. Not exactly a bad thing but I would definitely prefer metal.

Summary

People always give me a third eye look when I tell them these gearboxes are great. I don't blame people for it either; APS Gen.1, 2, and even the Hybrids were trashy.

However this gearbox fixed all of APS's flaws. Strong (mostly), good parts OOTB, overall very good. Gears and stock shimming were OK at best; I would ditch the gears right away personally, but if you're not running at 30+ RPS they should be fine.

Overall, 4* because of the bad gears. Otherwise would have been a 5/5. I would buy one again for another gun.

"Does not fit in the G&G Combat machine Raider 16. The tappet plate is more rectangular than like a circle. If that was not wrong, I would have kept the gearbox.

"Ok gearbox for the money, when it was working it had a great ROF and fps but I didnt even get a whole mag out of it until the nozzle would not retract back all the way. I can say evike has great customer service with doing returns and very professional about the whole process

"I have one for almost 5 months with m145 spring runing with a 11.1 lipo, then the gearbox lock up. I open it and two gears had broken teeth, 4 teeth piston are broke and the pinion gear of the motor destroy a wire causing a false contact. i think to fix it i have to spend another 50 dllrs but im no tech and im worried that i dont fix it well... so instead of that im gonna get a new one to give it a last chance to aps gearbox.
