"LOVE this gun! I’m a first time buyer but I have friends that are into airsoft, they were trying to convince me to go with a Gasblowback gun NOW THEY ARE THE ONES WHO ARE JEALOUS, The EBB function will guarantee to leave a smile on your face, the 300 round capacity magazines with a long lasting battery always is a plus :) will definitely continue to shop Evike. Customer support is always helpful and expedient! 5/5 would gift to a friend (now that i have my own)

"like said before, old reviews definitely need removed, these new gen APS guns are a great step up from their gen 1

they are great for beginner guns or as base guns for your next awesome gun. AS LONG AS YOU RECEIVE A GOOD ONE. its basically a lottery but if you win trust me you wont be disappointed. also you're backed by the 45 day return policy evike has

alright the famous old pros and cons, and this will go into detail of internals as well.

Cons (cuz no one starts with this)
- to my knowledge you cant extend this barrel with a supressor etc. since it already has one built into it
-people think its crap because it says APS on it.. now, this could be good or bad. since it proves the people wrong who think its a bad gun but those people are also with the impression it sucks and will make fun of you all pre-game
-the magwell is extremely tight, making it unable for some mags to fit such as the k120's, you can modify them slightly and then they work but still VERY snug.
-HUGE orange end.. not a huge problem as electrical tape can cover some of it and actually makes the gun look 2x better,

Pros
-amazing externals!! NO wiggle or ANYTHING
-HAS A WORKING BOLT CATCH, works like the real steel and is great for adjusting the hop up. (also sounds sick when you close it)
-the finsih (anodizing on the metal) is not the best but tougher than some. does what its supposed to and im satisfied.
-ergo grip!! small bonus but still a lot better feel than standard ones.
-pretty cool looking rails in my opinion, simple but brings the gun together nicely.
-AWESOME looking logo, its like silver glitter and just completely different than anyone elses logos

INTERNALS PROS/CONS

PROS
-the gearbox is really strong (my set-up is 11.1, 13:1 shs, jg clone motor, m120 spring) and has stood up GREATLY for about 5k shots now
-The stock gears are just like any others, pretty standard except for the fact they have a delayer chip on them which is not needed for a stock gun as the ROF is not high enough to actually cause feeding problems. but it saved me from buying one for my new set up which is 27 rps.
-ran it through my chrono and was at 365 with .20g and 348 with .23bb then 325 with .25g bbs which all come outto around 1.0 joules
-the stock RPS was 13
-compression was pretty good, psiton head, cylinder, air nozzle, were all very good in my opinion, replaced cylinder head with an shs cnc double 0-ring and compression was perfect. VERY suprised
-you should get a new piston as well.. this one is all plastic except for 1 of the teeth.
-the shimming surprisingly wasn't terrible but obviously wasn't perfect.
-metal hop unit! bad bucking tho.. THE UNIT USES AN H NUB! and the stock barrel is stainless.. pretty sweet for a $185 gun
-the quick change spring guide is pretty sweet, its ball bearing, but is polymer.. not really a problem because its really solid.

i think thats all i can say about this amazing gun.. perfect size for cqb and with my 27rps and awesome trigger response i slay the field, the shell so far is standing up for itself.

planning on getting one of the 12.5inch keymod guns that are hydrodipped to make a dmr with it.

"The 2015 APS M4 series are nice! Make sure you don't buy a Javalin version of the APS, make sure it's the APS logo.
by William R. on 02/11/2015
"EVIKE needs to delete these old reviews. The new 2015 version is heads and shoulders above the previous. I can't say I used the 2014 and prior version of this exact model but here is why it is a big deal to me and should be to potential buyers:
Silver egde gearbox! This is the ONLY good gearbox APS has ever made and now its standard. The old hybrid V2 GBs were absolute crap and this one is running way smoother, much faster, great wiring and contacts, and looks to last a long time. Someone ran a 30-40rps setup that broke the gears but I plan on staying where it is, which is near 20 on a 9.6v nimh setup. Not worried about that. Anyway here are the other upgrades from last version (along with pros):

Again, silver edge GB
RIS handguard is firmly locked in place and never twists off on its own
Metal quality is great all over, paint as well
A pretty decent crane stock with hardly any wobble
High RPS (just near 20 on 9.6v) for a sub200$ gun
Semi-tightbore barrel
Flipup sights are actually pretty nice and are keepers IMO
No mag wobble from using both included mag type and other PMags
Just an overall solid build

Cons:
Hopup is not the best, will need new bucking
EBB is good for some but I am sure most will be disabling this
Bolt catch is finicky
Charging handle has a good bit of play in it
Wiring to the battery is really long, makes putting in batts a pain
Will be a PITA to get the mock suppressor off with all that glue

OVERALL - You get an awesome gearbox and RPS in a slick, full metal package
for ONLY 180$! This is a STEAL for beginners or anyone on a budget! All the other JG's etc of this price range have only less to offer with worse internals or externals, and other APS ASR's with silver edge GBs run 230-300$. Will keep this at 5 stars regardless of the cons because I am only 5$ away from a hopup fix which is all that really matter... the rest are mere grumbles over nothing major. I am overall very happy with this buy! APS is finally getting their stuff straight!!!!

"i had an issue with the firstone that was sent to me but after great customer service i recieved my new one today. its full metal, shoots really hard, and is very durable.

pros
full metal
very accurate
full ris
durable
good weight to it

cons
loose magwell(piece of the soft side of velcro fixes that)
hard to fit a battery probably best to go lipo

"This is a decent out-of-the-box gun for those who don't want to tinker with any parts or deal with changing out internals. I haven't done any major upgrades to this gun in the last few months of owning this gun, and I'd consider myself a pretty advanced player. Only things I recommend swapping out are the stock (terrible design flaw at APS, batteries barely with in the buffer tube), and the hop-up bucking/nub. Otherwise this is a nice solid gun for beginners and advanced players alike.

However there are some things I didn't like about this gun. FIrst and foremost, the choice of stock was a terrible one. APS expects you to house the fuse box, wiring, and a battery in the buffer tube; this is a nearly impossible feat, especially with an 11.1 stick lipo. Also, don't expect to install any kind of NiMH battery in the buffer tube; it just won't happen.

The second thing I don't like about this gun is that there doesn't appear to be any way to remove the RIS from the receiver. Most tracer units won't fit down the RIS, and that's tough for darker arenas and fields. On a similar note, the threading on the inside is 14mm+, another poor choice in design.

As far as performance goes, I'm satisfied but not overly impressed. The stock bucking and nub was pushing BBs out to moderate distances with reasonable groupings. But nothing a Maple Leaf bucking and flat nub can't fix, right?

Overall I give this gun an 4/5, only due to the few poor design choices and it's not overly impressive stock hop-up performance.

"I originally had problems internally but through good customer service I got it back in good shape.

Pros:
Shoots hard
Full metal
Good durability
Looks cool
Awesome blow back.

Cons:
A few people i know have got a broken one and also had to send it back
Horrible battery space ( I recommend a 7.4v lipo and put duck-tape around to ends so it doesn't damage the battery)
loose magazine

"Don't get me wrong this gun is great for CQB and stuff, but its really only good for that, the cool thing is that it actually sounds like a suppressed rifle. but compared to most its pretty loud. IDK if thats how all EBB rifles are or if its just this one, thought I should mention that. The range on this gun is super sad for some reason, thats why i said it was good for CQB. So the only kind of airsoft I'm is not CQB, I tried to change the spring out. This gun is sooooooooooo hard to disassemble and I put it back together to my surprise and it doesn't even work any more I reassembled it multiple times and still doesn't work. Almost impossible to mod and it just isn't worth it if ur the kind of airsofter I am or if ur looking to mod it

"It's an ok gun, the hop up kind of sucks though. This gun also is fairly inconsistent accuracy-wise. One of the things I dislike most about this gun is the RIS, while it's a very nice CNC aluminum, it twists around because it screws off of the receiver. when I tighten it all the way down so it won't twist, it's off-center about 15-20 degrees counter-clockwise. Basically, this ruins the point of having any lasers (other than a PEQ on the flat-top rail) as it will put their aim askew. Past that, it does have a nice, crisp EBB that has a satisfying "clang" with each shot. Overall, it's good, but could be much better, save up a little and get a G&P or something.

Pros:
Nice metal pieces (body, RIS, suppressor)
Great for CQB (none where I live, sadly)
Crisp EBB
Can take LiPo batteries well
Built like a tank (this thing has taken its fair share of falls/people (me) falling on it

Cons:
Buffer tube battery compartment with long wires and a big fuse, even with a 7.4v LiPo, it's hard to find a way to fit it all in there. (this is why I installed a crane stock)
Bad hop up (it sometimes lets BBs roll down the barrel)
Inconsistent accuracy
Inconsistent range
Inconsistent FPS
Loosely spinning RIS (loctite could fix this), that's off-center when tightened.
One of the contacts of the gun's tamaiya connector pulls out of the plastic tamaiya sheath sometimes and makes it stop working. (Really bad when you're in the middle of a firefight.)
