Matrix Collector's Limited Edition Lee Enfield No. 1 Mk III Airsoft Gas Rifle

"MERRY CHRISTMAS, I got one! The Iron Airsoft SMLE is a great buy for the price EVIKE is offering it for. It needs a lot of TLC out of the box to get it running smoothly, but after giving everything a very good cleaning and relubing all the seals, I raised my FPS from 265 to 382. It had only two small screws that were stripped, but that was an easy fix. It seems to have a lot of potential as a scirmishable rifle for WWII Airsoft. Considering that this is the only airsoft Lee-Enfield out there, I'm very happy with my gift. If I hadn't recieved one as a present, I would have bought one myself.

PROS-
- Real Wood (though the color is a bit too red)
- Bayonet will fit (my 1907 bayonet fits with just a little slop)
- Magazine seats solidly and can be reload while in the rifle (might need an adapter to gas it up as well)
- Good weight, gives it a nice solid feel.
- Great value for the asking price

CONS-
- Needs a lot of TLC right out of the box. Mine was dripping silicone oil everywhere. Barrel took 8 patches to clean. Magazine was full of paint flakes in the BB well and exhast valve. O rings on magazine were not properly seated.
- Lots of mold lines on cast parts, poor finish on most. Will need to sand/file and repaint.
- Unknown quality of metal used for casting.
- Instruction "Sheet" is woefully inadiquate. Would like to have an exploded diagram at the very least.
- No spare magazine available. (Hopefully that will change)

"So this gun has been floating around for a while in the forums and whatnot, but nothing was set in stone, until it appeared out of nowhere onto Evike. I had to get it, because it is modeled after one of my favorite rifles of all time, the Lee Enfield No. 1 Mk III*, or SMLE. There will be no shooting reports in this review, because it's the middle of February and where I live it's cold as balls, so I won't buy gas until I can use it. But anyways, here are some pros and cons I've found so far.

Pros:
It's an SMLE
Real wood
Full metal-not sure if steel or some other metal
Not too heavy, not too light
Not a bag of dog turds on fire, like that Mosin Nagant by Matrix
Adjustable rear sight
It appears that you can attach an actual bayonet, but that remains to be seen.
Feels very sturdy
I like the sight picture
12 round magazine
You can take the bolt out just like the real thing
Packaging is very good

Cons:
Paint on the bolt was scratched pretty badly when it arrived. I don't really care, because it doesn't hinder performance it's just a cosmetic issue.
Bolt assembly was all greasy when I got it. A quick once-over cleaned it up.
Because the bolt is spring loaded, it takes a fair bit of extra force to chamber a round completely. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon enough.
I heard somewhere that Iron Airsoft will only release magazines upon demand. I think you can top load this, so it isn't that big of a deal yet, but I would like to see some spare magazines.
Putting the bolt back in is a little confusing the first few times, but I figured it out.

Conclusion:
I really like this rifle. It looks and feels extremely nice. I can't wait to shoot it. I hope to buy a bayonet in the near future and see if it fits on here. It probably will, because it would be cheaper for Iron Airsoft to use surplus parts than to cast their own. But whatever, I like it so far.
