"I ordered this boneyard HK G36C with high hopes, and I was not disappointed (except it didn't come with a mag!!)
The only problem wrong with this gun was that one of the pins in the tamiya housing was loose!! I was able to temporarily fix it, but I will be switching it over to deans eventually.
Before working on this gun, I worked exclusively on M4 bodies and gearboxes, and going from Version 2 to Version 3 was pretty refreshing. I was tired of M4s so I decided to order this and it has been fun to work on.
Gearbox internals:
plastic piston (one metal tooth), metal gears, QD spring guide (comes in handy), plastic piston head, etc.
The spring in the gun is much shorter than an aeg spring you would buy from any aftermarket suppliers. A Matrix spring is maybe 40% longer than the stock spring in this gearbox, so if you want to upgrade springs you will most likely need a better motor, along with short stroking your piston / sector gear (as the spring is compressed, the piston will not be able to move back as far)
I did end up shimming the gearbox as there was a slight whine, and it was time consuming but really worth it.
Price. Also it was easy to fix
QD gearbox is very handy, If it weren't QD I would be SUPER frustrated putting the gearbox back together
Plastic body is sturdy. It is easy to remove the gearbox from the body.
I didn't think I would like it, but the folding stock is super fun
It isn't an M4. It is built sturdy and is overall a wonderful gun to work on / use
Spring is abnormal size
re-doing stock shimming is time consuming
I haven't been able to test fire it because I have no mag!
