Matrix AW-338 MB08D Bolt Action Airsoft Sniper Rifle with Folding Stock by WELL (Color: Black + Bipod)

30 Customer Reviews

by Tony W. on 12/30/2011
"This gun is recommended for anyone trying out sniping. Shoots more accurate than the Well Type 96 and the UTGs. Although it doesnt come with a scope and the mounts are a little hard to find, I have had absolutely no problems from it that I couldn't fix with one of the included hex screwdrivers.
Pros
Easy bolt action
Realistic metal barrel and polymer body
More accurate than UTG and Well
Comes Pre-upgraded

Cons
Scope mounts are difficult to find but just check around your local gun stores for one that fits. I use 1 inch high quad locks made by Weaver. They work perfectly.

This gun gets a 10/10

"I love this gun, it is fantastic quality for it's price. It is made out of a very strong polymer outside in a beautiful tan finish. It has a foldable stock that locks into place for STORAGE, not shooting.
Also it has all metal internals, monopod, bipod, and outer barrel, that is fluted.
Also comes with a sling and speed loader

Pros:
Strong around 450 Fps
Accurate
quality
Monopod and Bipod
Built in top rail for scope
Its weight

Con: (very minor)
scratches somewhat easily
heavy (not for weaker people)
could use another magazine

"I've owned this rifle for almost a year now, and it's held up nicely. Over the past few months, I really haven't done any airsofting, just backyard target practice.

This thing hasn't been taken to a field to play in a large-scale game by me, because I live nowhere near a field of any type. At least not an airsoft field. Plenty of corn and bean fields.

But anyways, in a year of use, it's starting to fall apart on me. The folding stock rattles, the internals are going bad (Mainly because the piston and spring guide are both plastic) and the inner barrel has started to rattle.

Pros:
Sturdy
Heavy
Decent internals
Amazing look

Cons:
Internals go to trash after around a year
The rest of the gun kind of falls apart after a long time.

If you're looking for a solid sniper rifle, this will do the job. But if you're looking for something a little more realistic, buy a Matrix Marui clone instead.

In conclusion, this is a nice rifle. It will fall apart after a long time, but that's with any other airsoft gun kept in well maintenance.

Happy airsofting!

"I decided to buy my first actual sniper rifle and decided why not a classic awp? so at first i tried making a custom order, like a hand picked rifle, bi pod and scope, it would've been 170 dollars all together but you have to buy the bi pod adapter separately and those things are like 10$ so all together it would been 180 so why not just go for the deal of all 3 extra pieces plus the adapter for free. when i got the package i was excited because this thing is probably the heaviest gun i own. the actual full metal barrel assembly can be taken out of the plastic body (so basically the gun splits in to two) you can screw the barrel assembly permanently into the body with two screws if you want but theyre already put inside the body (i was worried i had lost the screws because the manual told me to place them in). basically its a good gun but be super careful.

pros-
heavy gun
accurate gun
packs a punch
stock folds for storage
mono pod on stock sometimes can help with reloading and stability
the grip has a nice feel i guess?
ive never used the cheek riser in combat but its there if you need it.

cons-
the first couple of days i had it, i transported it in my car within the box and as soon as i took it out the spring fro the magazine release lever magically disappeared. (hard to replace that thing)
the bi pod was neat for the first couple of days and it worked but the thing that actually tightens the bi pod (the metal cylinder inside the tightening grip thingy) it was crushed so now the left leg is constantly sticking out.
the scope is awesome , it even comes with mounting rings and two spring loaded protective caps for the lens but unfortunately the front yellow cap for me snapped off the spring and i could either glue it back on or just get a new rubber sleeve with protector on it (the caps arent on permanently, they're attached to two rubber cylinders that slide on the actual scope so no real worries there.)
ok last and final bad thing- the actual handle on the bolt itself has a spring mechanism inside that presses against the wall so it allows the bolt to go down and ready to fire BUT apparently if you flip it too much to the left the stupid thing slides out forward SO i had to take out the bolt assembly backwards and the metal box cap slipped off and i lost 1 out of 2 plugs so now the gun leaks oil slowly all over the bolt but at least i fixed the bolt and now i can shoot the gun again.

"When i first got it it was inaccurate as hell. But when i took it apart i found that one of the trigger pieces was on wrong and screwing with the rise of the barrel. I fixed that and now I'm hitting 5 inch groups up to 45 yards with no upgrades. I'm a competition shooter so I know how to sight in a gun.

Pros: buttstock folding makes it easier.
If you get it sighted in has more range then most AEGs
smooth bolt I recommend real synthetic bolt grease for real guns works a dream
pretty easy to customize all u need is tape and paint
Cons: Check to see if any trigger pieces are on backwards, would explain bad accuracy
stock sling broke in 5 minutes, toss it.
No left handed versions.
Buttstock cannot be adjusted since the weight in the end piece prevents good anchoring.
Overall a decent rifle for the price. Next time I'll order the m24 snow wolf due to its reliability and upgrade-ability.

"Hi I've had this gun for a few years now and I can tell you I've shot this thing and taken it apart countless times. Mine is now completely upgraded internally but that's a whole different story... Haha. Anyways this is a good gun stock for the most part. The accuracy and range are okay. Don't be expecting to be taking out those guys with the m4s before they can see you as they can shoot just as far and way faster with you and your stock sniper. However this is a great platform to
Upgrade! That's the beauty of these clone guns they take all the nice aftermarket parts like Laylax/pdi. Anyways somethings I have noticed after years and many many many shots are: The monopod is not the best and broke off fairly quickly. The rail is very wobbly. The stock hop up can unadjust itself easily. The cylinder scratches easily too but it's only an aesthetic thing. To be honest this is a very nice gun and my all time favorite but don't be expecting to have any real advantage as far as shooting goes with a stock gun. As I've said before it's similar to a stock aeg's range but you shoot about 100x slower so
Be prepared for a lot of frustration and money shelled out on upgrades but
It'll be worth it in the long run!

"I got the gun a while ago and it was great. Over time the gun slowly lost fps and went down to about 400. This was easily fixed by putting in new internals. Now my gun shoots at around 520-560.

pros
-cheap
-accurate
-durable

cons
-heavy
-cheek plate broke (easy to glue back in)
-might need to upgrade internals after a while
by Alaa S. on 05/16/2013
"nice for a person who knows what to upgrade, example. hop up, spring, scope etc

pros
+good building platform
+very nice looking
+easy to upgrade
+easy to keep lubricated and clean
+good stock accuracy but use heavier BB's

cons

-when i got mine scope would not calibrate properly
-weak sling
-hop up is not the best
-bi-pod is wobbly but easy to fix

overall its a good building platform and it is cheap

"I have had this sniper for over a month now and it is very good for the price. I use it as a back up if my aeg breaks down on me. It has some pros over the older shadow op L96 that is now has a textured lower receiver, something the other one lacked. There really is no tactical advantage of the folding stock unless you are storing it to save space. It is difficult to cycle the bolt without using the stock. Because there are no pins holding together the barrel near the front of the gun, when resting the barrel on an object, the barrel will be forced up slightly, reducing the accuracy of your shot when using a scope. I overcame this by wrapping electrical tape around the barrel and lower receiver to hold them together tightly. The gun does shoot 450 fps with .20 right out of the box. The inner barrel free floats inside the outer barrel; this gun comes with no spacers which can be annoying during re assembly.
The reason why i bought this one over the older version was because it was described to have a metal trigger box. I was disappointing when I took it apart because it still had a plastic one, with a plastic bolt catch inside that will probably snap after excessive use. Evike sells replacement trigger boxes.
But as a back up, I really cant complain.

Pros: Price, New textured lower receiver, folding stock and Full Metal mono pod (be sure to tighten monopod screw under cheek rest just in case) 450 fps, exceptional quality, comes with bipod

Cons: Outer barrel issues, no spacers, PLASTIC TRIGGER BOX, hop up access in a quite annoying location (must use Allen wrench to adjust)

Conclusion: Best spring L96 Evike carries. One of the most common snipers out there. If you want something no one else has, get something else.

"Afew scratches on the paint when it came out, nothing too noticeable. I did realized that it didn't come with a scope so it isn't 'battle ready' out of the box. but very accurate.

"It's ok, could be better.

"what are the upgrade kits for this gun. Stock accuracy is terrible the power is okay, and how do i upgrade it since its my first airsoft sniper
by Tyler M. on 09/05/2015
"This is a very good gun the only problem I have with it is my accuracy is terrible I spent nearly 200 bucks for this thing and it can't shoot right sometimes. Like sometimes it will be fine, but then the other time it will be awful and just tail off. I tried adjusting the hop up and the accuracy still just goes wild but everything except that is good. Maybe I just got a bad one :(
by Tyler M. on 09/06/2015
"Hi I've had this gun for about 3 days now and I can officially say that this gun is terrible. It is not accurate, my whole barrel is messed up and I am so disappointed I wasted nearly 200 bucks and I am not happy I would recommend getting and m4 instead of this.
