"Works as intended, removed pinion head and replaced it. Very handy tool

"After years of debating I decided to purchase this. I want the freedom to fix my guns including the motor when I please. This is a great product and unfortunately, worth the money. I didn't even realize my systema magnum's pinion gear (Systema magnum pinion gear is rap) had a grunge screw in it but this tool ripped right through it. It can easily take of and install a new pinion gear in less then a minute. A 100% need for those technicians that like working on every aspect of there gun.

"Used this to unmount and re-mount a pinion on the new ASG motor in my latest custom rifle. Tool fit and finish is fine, but if the screw threads were a littler better polished and there were perhaps better guides installed, it might be a bit easier to install and remove pinion gears smoothly. YOu get what you pay for, I suppose, and this was definitely better than using a vise and a prybar. No instructions present. I had to figure it out myself. Not too bad, unless you're not especially mechanically inclined.

"If you are considering doing more tech work, you definatley need to add this to your toolbox. With that said, make sure before you use it, that you lubricate it properly. And never, ever turn the handles with a wrench. I got in a hurry and not only broke one of the handles, but bent a motor shaft as well. Take the time to break it in properly. The only real downside is that it can be quite a pain to get the motor in just right. The magnetism pulls the motor in a certain way, and makes it hard to put the retainers on. No big deal. Buy this!

"This motor pinion tool is pretty terrible. To start this tool is extremely outdated by today's standards. There are much better gear puller designs that do not break as easily and those pullers are usually for bigger gears. Some of the material choices that went on this puller make zero sense to me. For instance, the square bracket that holds the pinion gear in place is made out of aluminum or some other soft metal. Why they decided to make it that material instead of hardened tool steel is beyond me. You will notice while using this that if you pull the gear it will start to strip the metal. It makes zero sense why they wouldn't make that part steel. If the idea is to remove the gear and replace it why would you worry about destroying the gear? It makes zero sense.

The other abysmal decision made on this tool is the pins on the handles. The pins are made of steel but it's a small part and is prone to bending. And before anyone criticizes my review, I did use the cylinder spacers that do go over the pegs and did not over-tighten. Even with both of those spacers and adequate force, the pegs still bend.

To effectively use this tool, you have to have some finesse when using it. Never apply too much force, watch for bending in the pegs, and back out the motor when you apply force on the pinion. Even if you do all that, you may find that you still may not be able to remove some pinion gears. One notorious example is G&G pinion gears. If you buy this tool to remove those pinion gears, you will break this tool. In this case, you have to take an angle grinder carefully to the motor.

My verdict on this tool is to save your money and buy something better. If you search for a gear puller in other places you'll get designs that are infinitely better than this tool. You'll notice that other pullers will have a cone design for the tip which is a better design and more durable. The only reason why this isn't getting a 1/5 is because it still works but only on motors with loosely fitted pinion gears. Save your money and get a different tool

"The tool broke after the first try.
