First thing: Can't you think of something worth-while doing with it than shooting cats. Second: These guns do work pretty well, but, to fire it, there is a little button (though, I'm not quite sure if it is the same with all models) that serves as a safety switch, so you have to hold it down to fire it. Other than that, It's really good for two things.
Pros.
1. Makes a great rifle for a backyard shootout (performs best with 12g).
2. Would work great as a sidearm (if you want something cheap, has a so-so mag cap, makes some racket, and works pretty good for cqb, then this is the gun for you).
Cons.
It does have a low rate of fire, about 5rps, a low range of about 40-50ft, and, when you are hit, it's hard to notice.
