"I bought this item in hopes of mounting a red dot sight offset in order to compensate for a full face mask while looking sight.

Worked reasonably well. I had a flip up style scope protector so purchased two rails. Glad I did, because the full sized red dot takes up pretty much both rails and even took some extra adjustment to get them both on. If you're running a medium or smaller reflex/red dot, 2 rail makes everything easier anyway and better to have one than need one when your local shops don't can't provide...

"The mount was too wide for the rail, like the part was made too thick. just wobbled back and forth on the rail and couldn't be tightened down any more. honestly sucks.
