"Update on my Usage of the M40A5:
Harris Style Bipod
Elite Force Green Gas
.25 biodegradable low end BBs
No Internal upgrades
I bought an illuminated 6-24x50 scope for this but it was an ebay special, overkill for the range I could get out of it but it was priced right. When Maxxed out it is very hard to get an accurate shot and found the 6-12 mag range worked best for me.
Using .25 bbs, I was able to hit a 2x2.5 foot piece of cardboard from my deck 225-235 feet 10/15 times of my mag. At that distance a few of the BBs even embedded themselves into the cardboard but it was not enough to break through. The weather was warm and slightly humid, shots taken both in the dewy morning and early evening before sunset.
I have a metal triangle bracket on our old playground at 180 feet and I was able to hit it consistently 13/15 times.
I was using some lower grade BB's and had some issues of jamming which I believe is due to the BBs were chipping which also could have led to a few missed shots, I was mad that I left my high grade .36 BBs at home 120 miles away.
I never had jam issues when I would cock it back fully and push forward with good force in a fluid motion, most jams happened when I would try and pull back the handle and slowly try and load a BB or pull back the handle a short distance and then forward.
Overall: I am more than pleased with the performance of this Sniper Rifle and out of the box shooting so far and straight is absolutely mind blowing. I believe the jamming was more on fault of the poor quality BB I was using but even when I cleared it and it shot 2 BBs at once, there was very little deviation in the trajectory even hitting the 220 ft target a few time with both.
I currently have no plans to upgrade this gun further as I just picked up a KWA GBB Vector to use as secondary.
"Got this gun and absolutely love it. Took it to the shop with a range and chrono and it was shooting consistently at 525fps with .36 BBs and some mid grade green gas.
I haven't played in game but have done some backyard shooting and have been happy with the results. Hoping to take it my parents on 3.5 acres and see the kind of range I can get from it.
A little on the gun:
This gun is heavy! Was not expecting the weight behind it and I would recommend a bipod, but nonetheless feels super solid and sturdy!
I don't have any complaints on performance but I have had a few problems that are very minor:
1) pushing the bolt forward to load a BB if you try and be slow and graceful about it the mag will hold the BB tightly and it won't let go and let you chamber a BB.
2) inserting the mag takes some practice. There is no room for error as the mag fit is so solid and snug if the angle is off it won't go in, takes practice and I assume will wear down in time.
Those "issues" are to me more user issues and will not be a problem after getting practice in with the rifle.
I have not adjusted the FPS as out of the box it shot pretty nicely. I highly recommend this gun and is well worth the money!
"BEST airsoft sniper rifle EVER!
This thing is a beast. It can achieve an outstanding +/-1 FPS consistency after just some hundred shots of wear-in. That's spring-like consistency, on a easy to cycle and realistic looking gas gun.
It's extremely accurate, shoots really far, build construction is solid as a rock (good materials, no wobble AT ALL), and power is adjustable from 400 to 600.
It can be further improved by using Maple Leaf inner barrel + Maple Leaf Autobot bucking. I'm hitting a target 90 meters (99 yards) away ever single time.
