Its dangerous to go alone! Take this.
The Evike.com Bug-Out-Bag is a basic essentials survival kit that is easy to grab, and easy to carry when disaster strikes. These bags are put together based on the cumulative knowledge from consulting with various military personnel, survival specialists, and outdoor aficionados. Whether you are facing the zombie apocalypse or natural disaster, it is always good to be well prepared to maximize your chance of survival.
Each bug-out-bag contains packages of long shelf life food items, a means to acquire drinkable water, a bright and durable flashlight, a knife with a ferrocerium fire starter rod, compass, emergency survival blanket, emergency 12 hour Chemlight, and basic first aid pack.
While the Evike.com Bug-Out-Bags are not intended to be a one-stop-shop for an all situations kit, it does offer the sturdy foundation on which a good emergency kit should be based around. Each bag can be tailor made to suit the users individual needs by adding additional supplies/gear pending location, climate, and disaster.
Below are some supplies and gear that would be beneficial to add to your kit as needed (not included):Advanced First Aid / Trauma Kit
(Nitrile gloves, gauze pads, gauze rolls, antiseptic, burn ointment, eye/skin wash, medical tape, assorted self-adhesive bandages, EMT shears, aspirin, ibuprofen, blood stoppers / tourniquet, first aid manual). We highly recommend taking a first aid course to familiarize yourself with administering first aid.Additional water treatment solutions
(filter, iodine / chlorine tablets). In many cases, make shift filters made from coffee filters can be used to remove large particulates from water before treatment. Water is essential for survival; while the human body can last a few weeks without food, it can only survive a few days without water.Canteen / water bottle for storing additional water when available.
Ideally one that can be heated to boiling to disinfect water.Alternate means to start fire
(refillable lighter / magnesium-ferro fire starter / storm proof matches, dry tinder). While it is possible to start fires with just the knife and ferrocerium rod, it is always good to have backups as well as alternate methods that may be easier.Additional clothing
(change of socks, warm water resistant jacket, underwear, working gloves, hat). Chances are, in a disaster / emergency situation, you will only have the clothes that you are wearing at the time. Always have additional clothes to layer on to keep dry and keep warm. A solid pair of working gloves will help to protect your hands.Personal hygiene / care
It is very important to maintain personal hygiene even in disaster situations. Not only will it boost morale, but it is to prevent the spread of illness and disease.Spare set of medication
Be sure to add a supply of any necessary medication that you or someone you are caring for will need. Often times during a disaster, it will be difficult to procure necessary medication.Additional food as needed
(Freeze dried, rations, protein / energy bars). You may never know when or where your next meal may come from. Receiving enough nutrients is essential for survival. Items such as MREs and energy bars can be eaten on the move when time is not an affordable luxury. Dehydrated meals take up minimal space and have incredibly long lasting shelf life, however they do need to be reconstituted with hot water.Additional tools
(Multi-tool, spare survival knife, machete / camp hatchet, paracord, sewing kit). Adding your favorite multi-tool is worth its weight in gold in a survival situation. Even something as basic as a can opener can save you from frustration. You will not always be able to forage for everything you need, often times you may need to make it yourself. Having the right tools for the job will definitely make life much easier.Duct Tape
As the old saying goes- You can fix anything with duct tape, anything that cant is truly broken and should be replaced. The usefulness of this tool is infinite; you can patch up tears in your clothes and bag, you can bind objects together for easier handling, you can even use it as a makeshift bandage to close a wound. Rain Poncho
A standard rain poncho has many uses, it can be used to keep you and your pack dry, it can be used to collect rain water, and it can even be used to patch leaks in a makeshift shelter. Trust us, survival situations can be made much worse when you are wet.Communications
(Spare battery charger for your phone / crank power charger / solar charger, 2 way radios, emergency radio with hand crank). Having the means to contact anyone for help during an emergency situation is vital.Currency
(Small bills, gold / silver). It might not be the end of the world, but chances are you might not be able to access an ATM or credit card scanner during a disaster. Always keep a small amount of currency on you to purchase necessary supplies / aid or if it has come to it, bartering.Self Defense
Be aware of local laws where you live and stay in accordance to laws. There is no telling what is out there during a disaster / emergency situation. There are such things as wild animals after all. Having a means to protect yourself is very important.Fishing Kit
This might not apply to everyone, but you never know, this could be where your next meal comes from.
