"Just an update to my previous review. I just had the unit out tonight so I could test the IR pointer. First, I used my gen1 NVGs and the pointer is amazing! It is visible out to a good quarter mile! It is really bright at airsoft ranges, so much so that it becomes kinda large. A means to reduce the intensity of the pointer would be nice. I also broke out my Sony video camera that has night shot and the pointer is also very visible using that.
I saw some complaints about the G&P QD mount that can be found on this unit and the larger unit that has the IR illuminator as well. The problem is that the unit does not snug down to the rail when the QD lever is rotated all the way to where it is supposed to be tight, resulting in a wobble. To tighten it down real good, just rotate the QD lever to full closed, and then get a wrench and tighten the nut that is on the QD lever pivot point. That'll do the trick! No more wobble.
I recommend this unit if you have night vision.
Carry on, and be careful out there.
"This is an impressive little unit! Nice look and weight, and very convincing, especially since it is made out of metal. It is tiny! Very nice if you want a compact unit that does not take up much space on your rail. The turrets are nicely done, with solid adjustment clicks. The visible laser is not as powerful as G&P's PEQ2a, but still just visible on a sunny day at about 40 feet. The IR laser is a dim red to the naked eye, which tells me it must be in the 830-850 nanometer range for wavelength. I do wish they would include the wavelength in the description, as this would be useful for determining weather or not the user's night vision optics will be compatible. After all, if you are buying something with IR capability, you must have some night vision optics you are planning to use with it, I will try it out tonight with my gen1 NVG's and my Sony night shot video camera and report back. For now, I will give it 5 for 5.
Carry on, and be careful out there.
