"I recently bought this gun on sale, and I must say that it is well worth the sale price and even the full price. I am not kidding when I say that this pistol is a masterpiece... Anyway, here is a list of some key features that potential buyers should be aware of (both good and bad):
+ Amazing range and accuracy (the BAXS system works surprisingly well)
+ Trademarks are (always) sexy
+ Very high quality build material
+ Solid blowback functionality
+ Enlarged trigger guard for "glove shooters"
+ Extremely comfortable to hold and shoot
+ Decent sights (and, of course, ease of installing a micro red dot sight)
+ Highly responsive trigger response
- Spare magazines are expensive
- Threading is not common --- 16mm positive (keep that in mind if you plan on getting a barrel attachment)
- Thread protector is unnecessarily difficult to remove --- I had to heat it with a lighter for about 5 minutes before twisting it off with pliers
- The spring that connects the inner and outer barrels together can become easily lost or damaged when field-stripping the gun
In all truthfulness, I immediately regretted buying this pistol after having realized that I couldn't reasonably afford it (I was drunk and unaware of this at the time), but after having received it, all my regret and doubt just flew out the window. If all of this is any indication of anything, it is that you shouldn't hesitate on purchasing this top-tier firearm.
"I've owned 2 of these over the course of 2 years and have thrown about as much punishment as one can at them and I must say I'm pretty pleased with this gun. I've put over 1500 rounds through it and it's still running very well. The build quality is superb, the recoil is super snappy, and the stock range and accuracy are pretty good. I know this gun inside and out and there are things I like and things That are quite disappointing. I've put suppressors (osprey) on them, I've put rmr clones, 6.01 barrels, aftermarket hop ups you name it. What other gas pistol (under $200) can you do all this with? There aren't many.
Stock range and accuracy is what you'd expect from a well built pistol. Pretty good, but not excellent. Drop in a compatible tightbore barrel and good hop up and you can make this much better. It may seem strange, but gas pistols really do like heavier bbs. With .28s I can get very accurate shots out to 150 ft and beyond. No joke. The magazines do hold a ton of gas but have issues (see below). I find that propane with a good lube makes for better functionality. The first round of this pistol was NOT fully ambidextrous, but the newer ones are, so southpaws can buy with confidence. There are also enough aftermarket parts to rebuild nearly everything inside this gun. Though some require some digging to locate. The threaded barrel is a nice touch. Be warned, adding a suppressor of any kind will cut the life of this pistol in half. Trust me, it's why I own 2. The added weight on the outer barrel will cause it to wear the slide down until the tolerances between parts are so worn out that it will hamper functionality. I get it, suppressors are sweet. Just know you're killing your gun when you use them.
First off. It's a pretty finnicky gun. I've had bad results with green gas. It seems like the psi is just too low to keep a heavy slide cycling properly in the long run. I've found that the best environment to run this pistol in is hot, humid weather. Beastly performance. However, cooler temps, even under 60f and the gun starts to act up. Under 50f and I'd be surprised to get a single shot off. My KWA HK45 is definitely better as far as reliability goes. On the top of my gripe list is the magazines. I own 6, but only 5 work. Had to scrap a busted one to keep 2 going. Some fit very tight and have to be pushed out from the top of the gun while the slide is open. For whatever reason The gas chamber can be opened and there is a gasket that seals the cap onto the rest of the mag. This gasket can and will leak after awhile. Teflon tape will help this, but it is a pain. I've had two springs snap out of the magazine and need to be reset. This means taking off the aforementioned cap and risk having it leak when you re assemble it. Bummer. I have found that the black version of these mags haven't given me any of these problems yet. Hopefully these will be issues that are fixed as production continues.
Despite the bad, I really do love this gun. Becoming familiar with its operation and parts will help you keep this thing going in the long run. I wouldn't call it a beginners pistol. I'm a little disappointed in its overall efficiency and shelf life, but it's functionality and aggressive posture makes up for this in my mind. I am of the mind set that it makes more sense to stick with this gun because I already own so many magazines for it that buying a bunch more every time I buy a new pistol seems like wasted money. Which is why I'll be buying a third one when the time comes.
"I bought one of these back in Georgia from a friend of a friend for $100 barely used. I. Love. It.
Compared to a WE Samurai Edge M9 I used, this was a major upgrade for me, let me tell you why:
1. Crisp blowback action
2. Gas efficiency (I used about 3 mags worth of ammo after just 1 fill)
3. There's a wider entrance for the BB's to insert them that makes it ALOT easier to load BB's into.
4. The sound you get from shooting this thing! (Sounds like a BRICK!)
5. I don't know if it's just me but my hop up in this was easy to adjust and it only took small nudges to activate it without over-hopping
But like all guns, it does have a few flaws:
1. The Slide Release does not work fully (Only resets the hammer halfway but it's not a problem for me)
2. The Slide Release and safety lever is pretty rough and feels sticky at times
3. Threaded barrel is a pain when you first try to get it off, but is still easy if you do the hot water method
The gun itself had impressed me so much I overlook all of it's petty cons, it will serve you well if you do decide to buy it, but only with one.....
CAUTION: It was hard for me to find spare parts, and I still can't find any, but I believe a few of the parts can be replaced from it's real steel counterpart. Don't take my word for it though, just take care of it and it will serve you fine, if not boneyard it is.
