"After reading the last review and owning this gun for six or more months I feel I can give an honest review. Let's deal with the pros first
The split gearbox is fantastic! It allows easy spring swaps at the field, I can have it apart and back together in under 5 minutes taking my time.
Having a split gearbox makes gearbox maintenance very easy! I especially enjoy the spring detensioner when switching to semi automatic.
Fps is excellent, if not a little enthusiastic for my local field, stock fps on my gun was about 430.
Very very very good air seal! Fps as advertised for springs are usually in the upper ranges for fps.
Very good and easy to adjust hop up that stays put. Stock range was possibly above average, I rhopped it and now it is a long distance gun easily reaching nearly the far end of my local field with excellent accuracy.
Feels extremely solid and no flex whatsoever between rail system and body. Externally it is a work of art and looks as good as advertised.
For the last reviewer who said it is too long and unwieldly, there are several different choices for this gun in various lengths. What did you expect when choosing the longest option?
When using the gun for the first time after a battery swap I have noticed that it will full auto on semi for the first trigger pull. Never after that but for the first trigger pull after being dormant it definitely full autos for a second occasionally.
Stock motor is nothing to write home about. It is not special whatsoever, and on par with just about every other gun I've ever bought. After performing my go to motor swap with a matrix high torque it is much better, at somewhere around 25 BB's per second.
Gun is noticeably heavy. As a grown man over 200 pounds and over 6 feet tall it's not an issue, but definitely noticeable. You will want a sling for the longer ops.
There are two options for stocks, almost wish I would've bought the other because a battery in the buffer tube is an extremely tight fit!
All in all definitely recommend this gun. After owning over four dozen guns in the course of my career this is definitely a keeper and worth upgrading! Very very very few guns I own I haven't customized externally, but this is definitely such a beautiful gun and so well built internally and externally that I have very little in the way of changes to make.
Only changes made were rhopped/modded flat hop style bucking with a custom cut and recrowned 6.03 tbb with LRB treatment and matrix high torque motor. For my list to be so short this must be a special gun to begin with!
"I ordered this rifle in order to make a dmr for long range and semi only mostly.
first let me say this is NOT a good dmr gun (unless you plan on replacing the gearbox)
The ICS split version gear box is not ideal for semi only as it has a very grindy, geary sort of sound and a ridiculous trigger pull, as well as only coming in at around 18 rps on a 9.6. Plus when I used the full auto it always felt and sounded like the gun was about to break apart into a million pieces. The Ebb function eats up batteries and is insanely loud. However, it is still a fantastic gun, just not for what i bought it for.
Here are some Pros:
stock I was hitting a 5 inch plate from 210 feet
the hopup is all metal and with the right adjustment will be better than most aftermarket parts
it comes with some really nice flip up sights
the externals are AMAZING
The gearbox could be better
It is excessively long and heavy making it unwieldy
Overall i gave this four stars because i think it really could be a great outdoor gun with a little TLC plus the externals are just incredible.
P.S its a unique hopup unit so dont try to buy any new units like a prowin (like me) because they just wonot fit
