"so i bought this gun purely off the fact that its a rarity, utilizes a v2 gearbox, and uses m4/m16 mags. upon opening the box i picked this thing up and first thing i realized was how heavy it was, for a carbine this thing is pretty heavy, particularly to the rear, for no good reason. i know guys with 249 paras and they are not at all much heavier than this. but, on the flipside this thing was pretty solid.

so i grabbed the mag, loaded it and shot it through my chrono. did not feed. did not. after reading up on this i found that the screw that holds the stock on the back of the gun screws itself into the gearbox's spring guide, pulling it back. i cut the screw (you will need a nut if you do this), and put it all back together. fed awesome.

now i got it shooting i see with just .25s its in the neighborhood of 310fps. i put a different spring it to remedy that. then i took it to the field.

upon the field's chrono'ing of my ak5c, i noticed how poor my range was and first obvious thought of lets get the hopup cranked came in. did zero. took the whole thing apart to see that there was never a hop nub. (really?) and NO i didnt lose it and NO it didnt fall out. straight up came with no nub.. so i put a spare nub, nothing special, i luckily had on me in and man. this thing had the range believe it or not with stock barrel and G&G hop, thing was getting them out there.

really suprised that with the gun being sold for over 400 it had this many deficiencies. i work on my own stuff so i got over it i have spare parts literally everywhere, and i enjoy the challenge, just wish it was sold for less or something. overall the gun shot pretty well nice trigger pull, great feel, good looks. by the way it isnt as green as you see in the pic and isnt glossy. youll see if you get this thing.

being that was just a HUGE heads up to some folks out there. lets get to the traditional pros and cons.

PROS
1. the gun is built like a tank, id be worried more about the ground or even concrete than the gun.
2. bolt makes quite a satisfying noise when pulled back and released VIA bolt catch.
3. being it has a bolt catch, adjusting hopup is a snap. hopefully for you, yours will actually you know? work?
4. the gun has no wobble, maybe a tiny bit from the stock, but thats acceptable.
5. the folding/collapsible stock feels very good in the shoulder, rubberized, and many points of adjustment here. also a lock to keep it in its folded or unfolded position.
6.decent railspace here, i dont need the whole gun to be all rail. its just enough for scope, laser, foregrip (maybe even grenade launcher)
7. the green color is pretty cool
8. if you dont use any of the rails on the handguard, the gun does come with matching green covers.
9. ambidextrous
10. everything thats probably metal on the real one is also metal here

CONS
1. first and foremost (literally) BATTERY SPACE!!! man i almost lose it when i gotta put a battery in here. butterfly types do work.
2. ambidextrous fire controls are wonky, they dont travel synchronously, so you have to make sure theyre both on semi or safe or auto
3. weight. WHY? for just a carbine this thing is too heavy for most people
4. due to the fact it is front wired, this thing is a terror to take apart. they give you almost a bb sized window to stick the wires through. youll be cursing.
5. didnt feed
6. didnt hop
7. stock fps was a little low for field, evike markets it at around 360 or something but thats definetly not what i got. i know i used .25s with minimal hop but the drop isnt that drastic.

overall the gun looks sweet but its plauged with internal and external problems from the factory for some reason, but if you know how to get past its kinks, and work on it (which i think is part of this whole sport). youll be happy. its annoying to have to deal with this with a brand new pretty expensive gun but i personally enjoy the challenge. now that its working and im not so annoyed with it, shoots well, responsive, looks great, solid feel, but definetly not for new players. the selectors still kinda out of whack, but ill deal with it. just not today. hoped this short story helped. take what you can. have a good one. good luck

"So to start off I just want to say this is entirely my opinion on this gun, I dont expect anyone to care, but hear me out if you wanna save some major money....
First and foremost, this gun externally looks great and all, but thats where I will draw the line, this gun is nothing but wobbly trash,
like seriously, its bad, really bad! You know why they include rail covers? Because the whole front end of the gun feels like its gonna fall off if you remove them! It will literally wobble so bad it could give you away in a war! Next thing is do not even dream of a dang battery to fit this piece of junk! There is nothing that I tried that will, so plan on wire extensions and peq boxes if you simply cannot live without this gun and remember that wobble I mentioned earlier? Well, I am also quite a bit tech savvy so it could have been an easy fix, but it would have been a permanent fix, with glue, that is literally the only thing that would have worked, because there are no screws in the front end! Just a couple loose pins, and last but most certainly not least, the main reason I am now waiting for my refund is : this gun WILL NOT feed, like at all, midcaps? Nope. Flash mags? Nope. High caps? Nope! I have heard that drilling like 1 inch behind the nozzle, or something like that will solve all feeding issues, but, void the warranty of a $410 gun? SCREW THAT!!! So now as I wait going in to week number 2 for my refund I just have one thing to say : if you are in the neighborhood for a quote on quote high end gun, get an emg salient licensed gry rifle for like $20 more, that is what I wished I would have done, so I hope this helps anyone as dumb as me who wasted a ton of time with this piece of junk.

"I have both the AK5C (this one) and the shorter AK5D. Its the same gun except that the "D" is shorter by approximately 3-4 inches. Both works extremely well, mine are the version with a fps of around 450. But the best thing with this gun is that the build is extremely accurate compared to the real steel. I know as I use the real steel in my line of work in the Swedish Armed Forces. Highly recommended!
